Text messaging

I know it's tough to type complete words into a cell phone but when a person is on a computer, nothing annoys me more than using text messaging words on the computer.
Disk Defragmenter

I don't have time to try and figure out what he is doing. It's like trying to understand an infant when they are learning to talk!!

What do you think of text messaging?

Lighten up a little. English is probably not his native language and we know how bloody difficult a language it are. Oops there I go messing up again.

I agree with you though on using slang (and that's all it is) for normal conversation. When I text I use complete words and complete sentences. Drives my son nuts.

Me: "I need you to stop at the store and get some milk."

Him: "k"

Of course he's responding while steering with his knee so maybe shorter is better.

It's all part of the dumbing down of america. Our fast paced fast food lifestyles demand shortcuts everywhere. I may make a typo, but I at least try to write in complete sentences. What I hate is when people use big word in the improper pretext.

I'll willingly admit that I HATE this Internet "shorthand" that everyone is using now. When I was a Kid the 'Net was something that only the government had and the Web hadn't come to be quite what it was today. Back then people used full text when sending messages. I think that as kids started getting online the tendency to type correctly began to decline. Shove a book in front of a kid and he/she probably can't read it. Translate that into AOLer and they'll read it!

I used that to partially translate a site I run. Trust me, it's hilarious to read it!
