Fight for survival

I wanted to share with you this story taken from a british and a russian website .
If anyone has more infos about these pictures , please feed this thread .
If this is a true story , i blame the pitbull owner in the first place .
mimo2005

A pair of marauding pit bulls emerged from the edge of the bayou beyond New Orleans as the floods receded. Bred as fighting animals, their bloodlust had been sharpened by starvation. The dogs, which were wearing collars, had survived for more than two weeks but food was scarce......

http://news.telegraph.co.uk/news/mai...18/wkat418.xml

russian website ( better pictures)
http://www.livejournal.com/users/drugoi/1468288.html

translation of what is said in russian :

Quote:
September 15, Phenix, Alabama. Two pitbulls, which were left without their master after the hurricane, werr trying to feed themselves.

Their victim became a bull, which got away from the herd got lost.

The dogs ignored the presence of a photographer, who served in the National guard, which was patroling around and keeping order after Katrina hurricane happened.

In the end, the dogs were shot.

I looked at the pictures for 2 days , i can not tell if these pictures are fake or not , they look real to me .
I am still trying to get more informations , and one thing for sure , everybody agree that pitbull can be very dangerous at any time , even they can attack their own owners .

Its sad in my opinion. On one hand the owner is to blame, I feel for raising them to breeding them as fighters and just leaving them. On the other hand the animals were doing what was instinct to them. It is sad that they had to resort to that.

hey DK , i felt the same way when i ran into this story .

anyway , another translation after someone asked some translation :

Question :
Can anyone tell me whatīs written in english ? Cos I canīt understand russian. Thanks so much.
Answer :

Quote:
September 15th, Phenix AL. Two pit bulls without owners lost in hurricane, and now have to provide food for themselves.
Their first target became a single bull, separated from it's herd.
The dogs were not discouraged by the presents of the photographer, who was in the passing National Guards patrol car.
Finally - both dogs were shot dead.

(I'm not translating all the comments, but consensus was that guards did a right thing, because pit bulls were too dangerous, plus guards did not have time to capture them. Few people blamed dog's owners, police, humanity in general ...:(

I used to Dispatch for our local animal control. Fighting dogs we brought in almost always had to be euthanized. They are too dangerous to try to be adopted out as a family pet. There are a few rescues around that have some fenced in land that take in numerous dogs, but fighting dogs are usually returned to be euthed. Pitbulls especially are dangerous. Even when they're not bred to fight, they're extremely unpredictable. We've had several cases in our juris alone of a pitbull being the family pet, lovable for years, and then suddenly attacked the owner (or worse, his children). Some states have banned the breed altogether.

i think the city where i live , they were recently banned , after an incident : a lady couldnt stop her pitbull from killing her neighbor that lives next door , they lived in same floor in an appartment complex .
The lady that died said " good morning " walking in the hallway and the pitbull attacked her for no reasons .Sad , that was her last word .

My county has a dangerous animal law that basically says that any animal not on a leash is considered dangerous and may be shot.

Q: "Hey mister, your dog ever bite anybody?"

A: "Not yet."

I was out walking my mild mannered Irish Setter when he was attacked by (what I think was) a Pitbull who was not leashed. The bull started to go for Nels' neck when I got in a solid kick to its rib cage. I heard a nice snap (I'm an ex-goal keeper so I know how to kick. ) and it went wheezing back to the garage where the owner was working on a car.

Dangerous for both of us because of the idiot owner.

Sadly something like what you did could get you sued nowadays. I don't really see why people would want them with their history. Its like the people who take the huskey/wolf hybrids. Then they complain when the animals attack their kids or eat up the house. I just don't get it.

The lady that died few years ago in my town , died from a pitbull that was leashed , the dog was stonger than the owner who was trying to pull him back .

Why is it when I see court related issues with pit bulls they are always saying stupid excuses such as...... my dog would not have bite him if he had not been running, or he was on my property and my dog
did what comes natural, protect his area, or they should not have startled the dog, either excuse is a crock and the dog is "ALWAYS" put down and the owner is "ALWAYS" sued and loses mucho deneiro, so the story remains the same, "pit bull owner found guilty" of allowing animal to attack or kill............. so all the loving pitbulls [and other breeds] take notice, that day will come when your dog bites and hurts or worse, and they will come and take your dog and destroy it, and you "WILL" be sued and have to pay, so what's the point in having an animal that eventually will create financial problems for you?
