What on earth did they find?

Today was strange. The radar readings I was getting from the location Polarneft was interested in did not match the readings they had taken two years previously. In fact they weren’t even close which naturally made me question the original Viner-Neyshtadt data. As the discrepancies continued, we then decided to investigate the site in person and what we found was definitely unusual. A huge expanse of the site now appears to have the remains of a very large animal. It’s massive, simply massive.

Update : Status: Hoax (part of a viral marketing campaign)

It's part of a viral marketing campaign for a new Playstation game called Shadow of the Colossus, which involves hunting and killing giant creatures. The website giantology.typepad.com, supposedly about "the mythology and culture of giants throughout the ages of humanity," is also part of this same marketing campaign.

Hmm a PS2 game, sounds like its not my type of genre though. I'll just get Burnout 3.

Shadow of Collosous (sp!!) was on the most recent PS2 demo DVD. I gave it a sping because I liked the pictures I was seeing from magazines. In fact, it's quite nice and really pushes the hardware to the limit. They use all sorts of tricks to simulate HDR and motion blur. It even appeared as though some textures were bump-mapped, which is something the PS2 CANNOT do normally. In the end it's pretty impressive visually. My biggest complaints were directed at the control over your character. Button reaction was sluggish and poorly put together. Of course, the game is still in development so I'll allow it to get away with that. The camera was also a bit tricky and was worst when riding the horse. In the end I give it high marks for graphics, but dock it for play control.
