I make 6.50 an hour as a cashier for CVS/Pharmacy (it's an "everything" store for those of you who haven't heard of it). I take so much crap at that job, especially from impatient smokers and people who feel it's their right to talk down to me.
Case in point- last night this pregnant lady came in, printed nineteen 8x10 pictures at the Kodak kiosk. It said right up top the kiosk, $6.99 per sheet, NOT based on how many 4x6s, 5x7s, etc. and whatever, that you print on to them. Her total came to about $148, and she completely flipped and blamed it on me.

Fox, LM can sympathize with you...she wears the same blue shirt....
I make "not enough" working at an auto parts store and delivering newspapers...use what I make working on computers as "mad money".

I have two part time jobs. 20.00 at one and 9.00 at the other. I fix computers for the Department of Education and for privately owned computer repair shop.
my first real job was at our college bookstore, 6.50 i think. I really didn't like that job but i was making money. |

Design stuff:
Usually pull in around $150-500 for design commissions. Alittle less for quickies. Freelance isn't the most reliable thing though. Sometimes I have 5 offers at once, sometimes 1, sometimes I'm too busy to take on any heavy commissions. heh, my depressing jobs: at school: I get paid 6.75 an hour to sit in an office where I do my homework and do design stuff that I'm already getting paid for, and to show academic computing how to do their job when they drop the ball (which isnt very often). at home: I work as a cake decorator/closer for the bakery in my town. Its not much... a whopping 10 bucks an hour, but I'm only there 2 months a year and they'll offer me work whenever I show up.

≈$14/hr - Law enforcement, plus whatever off duty gigs I can wrangle. I also do some advising for a local foster agency/special needs care facility who will pay $7.25/hr if I ever decide to turn in a timecard. Not very well paying work, but rewarding at times.

i mean ... everyones dream is to have income coming in but not having to do any work for it but i also heard that not working makes ur life really~~ boring my friend purposely finds work that takes up a good amount of hours so what would be the ultimate job? the guy who does the voices on the movie commercials .. he gets paid i think 10,000 per minute he's voice is used and he works thru the phone!!!!!!! yet once again .. it could become boring after awhile .. but who knows even bill gates doesnt stop working ~~ Last edited by toxict3arz; 10-08-2005 at 07:59 AM. |

*When I work, for it isn't very often* I work for my dad cutting grass and such where we have cows. Half of the time he doesn't pay me, but he is going to for today. I went with him at around nine (my mom dropped me off cause he didn't think I wanted to make money
) and we just got back around ten minutes ago. I had to cut weeds, cat-tails (we have a few ponds there), small trees etc all with a bushknife (well,..... more like a fat and short machete blade on about a 3 foot stick. The blade curves at the end so it cuts much better). I'm about to fall asleep right now I'm so sore.Oh, back to the topic: He normally pays me a flat sum, uh.... around $50.

I believe part timers get a $.50 raise yearly. Not sure about drivers. The good thing about working part time is anything over 5 hours is overtime. So this holiday season things should be good. UPS is union, where FedEx I believe isn't. Drivers are in the $2x range for hourly pay, although holiday help drivers are only $14.50

I opened a limo service a 1 year ago ,boston pro limo , servicing north eastern area, it is a tough business ,takes too much time of your life , hard to find reliable drivers , a good week , one car can bring 2500 $ , a bad week 1000 $ .(50 hours of work and up)
But here is the flip side : too many Expenses . Tolls , gas , maintenance , clothes ,car payment, insurance premium for 1 million $ liability ,driver salary .... and because i dont have my own clients , i signed a contract with a bigger company that subcontracts the jobs to me ,and they keep a good 27 % of the fair ,wich is a lot ,but the good thing i dont have to handle the customer service like taking reservations and all that suff .how much i make an hour ,sincerely i don t know .

I get £8/hour (about $12 I think) and I'm one of only 4 guys in the company in this country who knows how to do what I do. 2 of em are leaving soon, and the other guy does it part-time.
Time for me to ask for a pay rise methinks..... or a new job.
