Wally World

Two weeks ago today, I bought a 160 gig Seagate external hard drive from the local Wal-Mart. I went back in the store yesterday and the same drive is $25 cheaper. I asked about getting the price differential and was told to bring the receipt in today and I would be taken care of. NOT. I took my receipt in, and was told the policy about refunding in store price differentials was limited to 7 days. Well, there was no signage posted anywhere stating this policy, not in the electronics department, not at the service, and it's not printed on the receipt. I asked to personally speak with a manager, but I think they hired a bunch of chickens to be managers, because not a one would come to speak to me face to face and show me where the policy was posted. Besides, it may not have been 7 days since the price was reduced. I've already fired off an e-mail and a hard copy to Arkansas, but it probably won't do any good.

Remember, you attract a lot more bees with honey than with vinegar. Of course, with so many bees around you get stung a lot more too...And, you attract a lot more flys with @#$% than with ...well you get my point.

What's that? He can get sticky or smelly, but either way he's not getting his money back?

I would return it, get a refund, and buy another one. Tell them at the refund counter it was defective and you made an alternate solution, you just want your money back.

There are always loopholes into these matters.

That's called "renting."

Yeah people do it at CVS all the time. The clerk probably won't care, I'm sure he or she will be used to that sort of thing.

I hardly ever shop at Wal Mart- I think it's worth more to buy products at a higher price now and have them last longer then dump money on cheap crap and re-buy it when it breaks in short order.

I agree in theory, but the cheap crap looks good when you're on a tight budget & would otherwise have to do without.

The point is you are probably going to do with out anyway. Because it is eather going to go TU (just after the warranty expires), or you are going to return it because you relies what a piece of s*** it is.

I love my super WalMart in Newark Ohio. Where else can you buy apples and aprons? Biscuits and bras? You get my point. I spend alot of time and money there. I have bought software from there too and they have been pretty good about it. I also bought a video card which has worked out great for me from there. I do hope you get your $25.

I have e-mailed them and sent them a letter. No response. The $25 is not the issue anymore. It's the fact that there was no manager who would come explain the policy to me, as I wanted someone to show me where the actual policy was posted. The clerk at the service desk couldn't show me, and of course she couldn't leave her area to go wandering around the store trying to find anywhere the policy was posted. Yeah, it does not make them look good when they won't match their own prices.

Don't get me wrong, I also love Wal-Mart. Just I would prefer to shop at a computer store for computer parts.

If I'm in a fix with a repair and need a part yesterday I'll stop at Wal-Mart. Sure, they don't sell everything but i can at least get the basics 24/7.
