Suggestions for my first Booze run

This weekend I'm going to be old enough to walk into a store and buy all the booze I want. I've had quite an assortment of things at parties but we had a few girls who were pretty keen on mixing and I never knew what they were made of, and honestly didn't care, lol.

I'm calling on all the alcohol aficionado's to help me pick out some good'uns. What do you like and why do you like it etc..

Well happy birthday first of all. May you die in bed at 95, shot by a jealous spouse.

Second, any preferences?

Third. Can't go wrong with whiskey, after all its the water of life. If you can go with Jameson. Its 12 year old Irish Whiskey. Nice and smooth. Perfect for drinking straight up.

Forth. Guinness. If you don't mind people telling you that you are drinking 30 weight motor oil the stuff is great. Althought bottles do not compaire to tap. Tap is sweeter.

Fifth. Don't buy cans.

Sixth:
When we drink, we get drunk.
When we get drunk, we fall asleep.
When we fall asleep, we commit no sin.
When we commit no sin, we go to heaven.
So, let's all get drunk, and go to heaven!

And lastly Here's to our wives and girlfriends:
May they never meet!

If I'm not mistaken, both are available in the states

In germany they had a tequila/beer mix. It was absolutely vile.

So myquite, how's your head? (yuk, yuk...sorry)

Did you have a nice weekend experimenting?

One word of late advice: life's too short to drink bad beer.

Also, Makers Mark is really smooth Kentucky whiskey.

And remember, you're not too drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on. (Dean Martin)

Beer before hard, you're in the yard.
Hard before beer, you're in the clear.

beer before liquor, never been sicker
liquor before beer, you're in the clear

I have not seen anyone explain this as well as Cliff Clavin, on "Cheers."
One afternoon at Cheers, Cliff Clavin was explaining the Buffalo Theory
to his buddy Norm. and here's how he explained it:

"Well ya see, Norm, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as
fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the
slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural
selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and
health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the
weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate
as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we
know, kills brain cells. But naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest
brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates
the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient
machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers."

That is probably why I retched in Germany

Seriously, though, how much of each does it take to make a person sick? I only had two beers and then a glass of champagne.

I'm thin but I can hold my drink. One night I went to a friend's house and had 20+ shots of this yellow stuff that felt like motor oil going down but tasted like lemon. Then we had a bunch of drinks that had acronyms for names followed by some beer.

I had to hold onto the floor that night.
