Do we DRILL?

With the gas prices on a steady incline; DO we drill in out reserves, or Not?

$2.65 today for me

I am getting sick the increase. I am a supporter of Bush. But he needs to make a desision NOW!

Any comments?

Bad choices. Drill today = oil 10+ years from now. So what do the Saudies and (Canadians?) do over the next 10 years? Make us pay through the nose. Cause (if the oil is there) their hold on our gonads will deminish. The answer lies elsewhere.

I vote D, none of the above.

Big oil companies are reaping profits while the consumers pay the higher prices. In the fourth quarter of 2000, profits for fuel and utility companies jumped $7.8 billion, or 87 percent, above their year-earlier level. Meantime, profits of non-energy companies fell $18.5 billion, or 20 percent, in part because of higher fuel and electricity costs.

Funny how oil companies are doing better then ever when we have a president who has lots of friends in the oil business who have donated large sums of cash to him.

If you are making Billions of dollars a year. And you already make enough money to never ever look at your check book again. Why would you keep raising prices. I mean it is like a game all the oil dudes are playing.

Who can make mor this year?

I think BP and Shell are neck to neck. Cowards!

Yes we drill but I want the government incharge of it.

They said the last Alaskan pipeline would kill off the moose, but now the animal is thriving because their living off the heat from the heat of the pipe created by the enormous friction of all that oil rushing through it.

Even if they do drill if you look at the long run your not helping anyone. What we need to do is make a gether like the Live 8 concerts but instead gather scientist and make them study and think of something as fuel replacement .. Something cheaper, more effective and better to mother nature

I say drill, but we'll beat this gas price hike like we did in 1980. Fuel conservation (shhh I know the republicans are watching), and cars that get better mileage (hybrids). We went from bug gaz guzzlers like caddies to little hondas.

The sooner we start drilling the better.
The sooner we come close to running out the better.
The sooner people realise we're going to need something else WHEN it runs out the better.

The less we have means there's less people can fight over. If you're going to fight over something, make it worthwhile like..... Cinnamon Grahams or Golden Grahams?

Just need more investment in the tar sands in Alberta and drop the moratorium on drilling off the coast of British Columbia, there is a LOT of oil up there, there is even speculation of a secondary rail line through BC and a new pipeline through BC and Alberta to the US...

The other options are coal oil & bio-fuels, the Germans used it 70 years ago to fuel their vehicles during WW2...USA is the Saudi Arabia of COAL...you just need to gasify the coil.

We should also look at more bio-diesel, ween the farmers off the subsidy teet and have them produce crops that could be converted to fuels, we already make so much food grains that it gets subsidized and bagged in warehouses.

Hybrids are a step in the right direction, but not a gas hybrid, a coal oil/propane/lng hybrid would be a better choice.

Hydrogen...well that's just paying back into the oil companies since they already control the most abundant sources of hydrogen, and that is crude oil.

Some will say, sea water and that makes sense, but you can't get something for nothing, to convert seawater to hydrogen gas you need a lot of power, a better source would be ammonia or NH4...

It's all very complex...

GOLDEN GRAHAMS!

I like the prospect of biodeisel: running your car off of something very abundant in American society which is grease. I read an article about a man who had his car converted and now his bill to "gas" his car is now $8USD a MONTH.

Unless you can gather an energy source of 1.12 gigawatts, then you can't travel back in time, the flux capacitor is what makes time travel possible, but to have that you need a radioactive/EXPENSIVE source of energy...

I say switch to bio-fuel, I'm not no left-wing nature freak (correct me if I said that wrong (I would fail elementary politics; I never watch the news, read the newspaper, basically I have no idea what's goin on)) but I do care for the environment.

I mean come on, as ReeKorl said: "The sooner people realise we're going to need something else WHEN it runs out the better."

Lets not get to that situation....

EDIT: I voted keep the Alaskan land, but my vote counts as a half, I hate high prices.... Grrrrrrr.....Grrrrrrrr.......

Then you got to worry about pollution though.

But I think your right, where else can we go at this point
