I thought XP wouldn't suck
that's all, just thought it wouldn't suck as much as it does.

I agree, the navigation is my biggest issue. Then all the crap that runs in
the backround, which can be tweaked. Then the activation issue. I wont even get into the sp2 problems. One thing I will say though, games run alot better then in win98. oh ya, it looks pretty,,lol all the whistles and bells. |

You can turn off all the whistles and bells pretty easily...I think XP is fantastic.
I did like 98 but it was so full of security flaws that XP is worth the upgrade.

I forget I'm on XP sometimes, since I've configured it to look like 98.
Some things I like, like not having to launch a program to burn a CD. anything else, I just don't use. I've used FF and AVG for a year now, with no (recent) windows patches and I have yet to get a virus or piece of spyware.

Hi 40,
You sound like the skeptic that I once was. Now, I would not trade XP for any other windows program. I too have configured it somewhat like 98, since I liked that look better. Kind of like the old lady that kissed the cow...each one to their own taste. Have a great day.

For those who hate XP, take heart. For Longhorn shall soon arrive and with it comes pestilence and plague...... Oh yeah, and incompatibility and security holes and stuff. And on the sixth day gates made Longhorn and he looked upon his checkbook and said "It is good".
And many patches were made and the hackers had a new goal in life. Amen. |

I miss 98 though, it was so simple and didn't ask as many questions. It knew I didn't want WMP checking for licences over the internet damit!
O well, at least I can play WMP in FF now.

I've just received a very disturbing email direct from Microsoft's offices:

Yep.
And I was at first very disappointed with XP. But it's true, once you get all the stupid crap worked out, it's not so bad. Especially if you keep FAT32. I hate NTFS, and I don't know why.

He didn't get rich paying out, he got rich making people too scared to fight his company due t the legal cost hey would suffer.
It would take a very rich company or the federal govenment to fight MS on anything. Mike Soft, the owner of mikesoft.com, was only offered ten bucks to get rid of his domain name. I hope they loose if they get sued though. I hate the name vista, it's too latin.
