Latest case of verbal flatulence (SF giants)
This story has gotten me so angry.. the media once again picks a story up and turns it into something it isn't. The manger Felipe Alou tried to have several men fired for being involved in using the phrase "brain-dead Caribbean hitters hacking at slop nightly" on the radio. Oh by the way he also insulted Felipe on the air... but I'm sure that has nothing to do with it.
If there had only been a small, "uh dude you shouldn't have said that," followed by a retraction of the comment.. I wouldn't even care. But as the media is great at doing.. they omit half the story. You know the part with Felipe Alou getting red-faced, ears-steaming crazy and calling the man who said it 'Satan'. So the exchange went like this... Radio guy: "the freaking caribbeans on this team can't hit, I hate watching it" Manager: "SATAN!!!!" ..kind of a big jump lol. "Alou vowed to make everyone aware in his native Dominican Republic - taking it as high as the country's president, Leonel Fernandez, who attended a statue tribute for Hall of Famer Juan Marichal here in May." Ummmm? The Associated Press can die for all I care.. this article is pure crap. "wah wah my feelings got hurt, let's fire the men and take away their ability to support their families because they don't want to have to censor their speech to keep whiny @^%$&'s like me happy" I'm surprised diapers aren't a bigger market in this country. http://cbs.sportsline.com/mlb/story/8707893 This from a more sane viewpoint: "Krueger's comments of last week, when I initially read them, appeared well within the bounds of propriety; they were somewhat more suspect when I heard the sound clip. Still, absent some previous history of racial animus of which I'm unaware, they don't warrant the storm of controversy that has ensued, let alone people losing their livelihoods." http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/archives/11592 |
