Post What are you listening to??

I know all of my threads in here pratically die after 3 posts (exaggerating I know ) but I think this might last. The title basically explains itself so I'll start.

Brad Paisley ~ Alcohol

I can make anybody pretty.
I can make you believe any lie.
I can make you pick a fight with somebody twice your size.
Well, I’ve been known to cause a few break-ups,
An' I’ve been known to cause a few births.
Well, I can make you new friends, or get you fired from work.

And since the day I left Milwaukee,
Lynchburg an' Bordeaux, France,
Been making the bars lots of big money,
An' helpin' white people dance.
I got you in trouble in High School,
But College, now that was a ball.
You had some of the best times you’ll never remember with me:
Alcohol; Alcohol.

I got blamed at your wedding reception,
For your best man’s embarrassing speech.
And also for those naked pictures of you at the beach.
I’ve influenced Kings and world leaders,
I helped Hemingway write like he did.
And I’ll bet you a drink or two, that I can make you put that lampshade on your head.

‘Cause since the day I left Milwaukee,
Lynchburg and Bordeaux, France,
I been making a fool out of folks just like you,
An' helping white people dance.
I am medicine and I am poison,
I can help you up or make you fall.
You had some of the best times you’ll never remember with me:
Alcohol.

Yeah, since the day I left Milwaukee,
Lynchburg an' Bordeaux, France,
Been making the bars lots of big money,
(Helpin' white people dance.)
Yeah, I got you in trouble in High School,
But College, now that was a ball.
You had some of the best times you’ll never remember with me:
Alcohol; Alcohol.

(Alcohol.)
(Alcohol.)
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na.
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na.

Aw, poor Henry

I usually have winamp set to shuffle. There's over 5000 MP3s in my list, but right now I'm listening to No Holds Barred Radio www.nhbradio.com through streamcast. They have various shows, some tech-related but mostly obscene comedy... so kids, don't tune in!

Never heard of Brad Paisley. Is he any good?

He's a country artist, if that means anything.

Well, right now, I'm addicted to sugarcult, which you would see if my signature would update itself.

Back to California is the poison of choice for me right now.

Haha Henry you should see my threads asking for help. Usually only 1 or two replies... It's been better lately though.

My current song: a Jimi Hendrix song called Castles Made of Sand

Code:
Down the street you can hear her scream you’re a disgrace
As she slams the door in his drunken face
And now he stands outside
And all the neighbours start to gossip and drool
He cries oh, girl you must be mad,
What happened to the sweet love you and me had?
Against the door he leans and starts a scene,
And his tears fall and burn the garden green

And so castles made of sand fall in the sea, eventually

A little indian brave who before he was ten,
Played wargames in the woods with his indian friends
And he built up a dream that when he grew up
He would be a fearless warrior indian cheif
Many moons past and more the dream grew strong until
Tomorrow he would sing his first warsong and fight his first battle
But something went wrong, surprise attack killed him in his sleep that night

And so castles made of sand melts into the sea, eventually

There was a young girl, whos heart was a frown
’cause she was crippled for life,
And she couldn’t speak a sound
And she wished and prayed she could stop living,
So she decided to die
She drew her wheelchair to the edge of the shore
And to her legs she smiled you won’t hurt me no more
But then a sight she’d never seen made her jump and say
Look a golden winged ship is passing my way

And it really didn’t have to stop, it just kept on going...

And so castles made of sand slips into the sea, eventually

DD, I was wondering about your sig. Why does it usually have the same Chili Peppers song repeated about 5 times? Good choice, but doesn't it get repetitive?

Fox, you've put me in the mood for some Hendrix... Crosstown Traffic and Red House.

Yeah I've wondered that too...

Red House is a sweet song. I was thinking about playing that for Battle of the Bands, but my amplifier is a piece of crap and I don't have nice enough pickups to come close to that sound.

John Mayer

Song:

Come back to bed

Lyrics:

Still is the life
Of your room
When you're not inside
And all of your things
Tell the sweetest story line
Your tears on these sheets
And your footsteps are down the hall
So tell me what I did
I can't find where the moment went wrong at all

You can be mad in the morning
I'll take back what I said
Just don't leave me alone here
It's cold, baby
Come back to bed
Come back to bed
Come back to bed
Come back to bed
Come on back to bed

What will this fix?
You know you're not a quick forgive
And I won't sleep through this
I survive on the breath you are finished with

You can be mad in the morning
I'll take back what I said
Just don't leave me alone here
It's cold, baby
Come back to bed
Come back to bed
Come back to bed
Come back to bed

You can be mad in the morning
Or the afternoon instead
But don't leave me
98 and 6 degrees of seperation from you, baby
Come back to bed
Come back to bed
Come back to bed
Why don't you come back to bed

Don't hold your love over my head
Don't hold your love over my head
Don't hold your love over my head
Don't hold your love over my head
Don't hold your love over my head
Don't hold your love...

Usually because I put it on when I'm doing something and forget to change it, or I accidentally leave it running for a few hours, or I just really like the song.

Code:

This Velvet Glove
Close to my skin
I'm falling in
Someone who's been

Sittin' by the phone
I'm left alone
In another zone

John says to live above hell and
My will is well

No one is waiting
For me to fail and
My will could sail, yeah

It's such a waste to be wasted
In the first place
I want to taste the taste of
Being face to face with common grace
To meditate on the warmest dream
And when I walk alone I listen
To our secret theme

Your solar eyes are like
Nothing I have ever seen
Somebody close
That can see right through
I'll take a fall and you know
That I'll do anything
I will for you

Sailin' for the sun
cause if there is one
Knows where I'm from
I care for you
I really do, I really do

Come closer now
So you can lie
Right by my side

Sittin' alone in the sun
I wrote a letter to you
Gettin' over myself, yeah

Your solar eyes are like
Nothing I have ever seen
Somebody close
That can see right through
I'll take a fall and you know
That I'll do anything
I will for you
Your solar eyes are like
Nothing I have ever seen
Somebody close
That was made for you
I'll take a fall and you know
That I'll do anything
I will for you

Close to my skin
Someone who's been
I'm falling in

Disasters are
Just another star
Fallin' in my yard

John says to live above hell
My will is well

Long to be with
Someone to tell
I love your smell
Lately though I've been putting all of my music into a gigantic playlist and playing it randomly. I have some stuff I don't really like though, so it gets boring sometimes.

Now I'm gonna go dig up some hendrix.

I use a pair of cheap headphones. They look like the ones sony sells with their walkman, but they aren't sony. They suck, but they do.

I used to have a nice pair of Koss isolation headphones that I used a lot. They broke unfortunately.

Yeah I would recommend to everybody to buy a pair of good headphones. My SR60's are a great example of an exceptional pair. The only reason I suggest this is because when you think about the money you waste replacing pair after pair of 20 dollar headphones, 70 dollars doesn't seem like a whole lot considering mine are going to last me a good long time even though I wear them on me every single day of the school year.

I think the funniest part is that the headphone jack of my MP3 player broke, I fixed it, and it's acting up again. But my headphones are still in as good shape as they were the day they came. Perhaps better, because these things sound better as they get older.

I don't use headphones anymore, just crank up the speakers. What's the point of having good music if the neighbours can't hear it?

Listening to Aphex Twin now.

Henry, you got more than 3 replies. Woohoo!

About time my threads live!!!!!

Eagles ~ Learn to be Still

It’s just another day in paradise
As you stumble to your bed
You’d give anything to silence
Those voices ringing in your head
You thought you could find happiness
Just over that green hill
You thought you would be satisfied
But you never will-
Learn to be still

We are like sheep without a shepherd
We don’t know how to be alone
So we wander ’round this desert
And wind up following the wrong gods home
But the flock cries out for another
And they keep answering that bell
And one more starry-eyed messiah
Meets a violent farewell-
Learn to be still
Learn to be still

Now the flowers in your garden
They don’t smell so sweet
Maybe you’ve forgotten
The heaven lying at your feet

-solo-

There are so many contridictions
In all these messages we send
(we keep asking)
How do I get out of here
Where do I fit in?
Though the world is torn and shaken
Even if your heart is breakin’
It’s waiting for you to awaken
And someday you will-
Learn to be still
Learn to be still

You just keep on runnin’
Keep on runnin’

If you're into Pink Floyd, try and find Dub Side Of The Moon by Easy Star All Stars. It's a dub version of Dark Side done by various reggae bands. Great summer music.

Nice new avatar there koala

Eagles ~ Last Resort

She came from Providence,
the one in Rhode Island
Where the old world shadows hang
heavy in the air
She packed her hopes and dreams
like a refugee
Just as her father came across the sea
She heard about a place people were smilin'
They spoke about the red man's way,
and how they loved the land
And they came from everywhere
to the Great Divide
Seeking a place to stand
or a place to hide

Down in the crowded bars,
out for a good time,
Can't wait to tell you all,
what it's like up there
And they called it paradise
I don't know why
Somebody laid the mountains low
while the town got high

Then the chilly winds blew down
Across the desert
through the canyons of the coast, to
the Malibu
Where the pretty people play,
hungry for power
to light their neon way
and give them things to do

Some rich men came and raped the land,
Nobody caught 'em
Put up a bunch of ugly boxes, and Jesus,
people bought 'em
And they called it paradise
The place to be
They watched the hazy sun, sinking in the sea

You can leave it all behind
and sail to Lahaina
just like the missionaries did, so many years ago
They even brought a neon sign: "Jesus is coming"
Brought the white man's burden down
Brought the white man's reign

Who will provide the grand design?
What is yours and what is mine?
'Cause there is no more new frontier
We have got to make it here

We satisfy our endless needs and
justify our bloody deeds,
in the name of destiny and the name of God

And you can see them there,
On Sunday morning
They stand up and sing about
what it's like up there
They call it paradise
I don't know why
You call someplace paradise,
kiss it goodbye

I really love the Eagles period!! (I have 113 minutes of them on my computer, but it's only like 2 cd's; I'm not much into buying music)

And I think they might have a live version on the Hell Freezes Over concert...... but been a few years since I've seen it.

Fox, what kind of guitar do you play? I've got an old telecaster. My dad used to play guitar with Van Morrison in a college band in Belfast back in the 60s and he taught me a few chords, but I just make electronic noise now

EDIT: Thanks Henry, it's edward scissorhands, but it looks like me after a night out!

I have a Mexican-made Fender Fat Strat (two single coil pickups in the neck and middle positions and a humbucker in the bridge). The pickups in it absolutely suck, but the overall quality of the guitar leaves me at odds with about every other guitar I've played, mexican or american alike. It's just so nice I can't get over it. I don't know what they did at the plant with mine, but whatever they did they did it right.

I'm also looking for a new amp...I've been recommended the Peavey Classic 50 because it has a great deal of power and I need it to play with my band.

So your dad played with Van Morrison? That is pretty cool, I really like the song Moondance.

I like telecasters too, but I just like the sound of a strat better. I usually play blues on the clean channel with the neck pickup.
