1000 Surplus Apple iBooks from Henrico County Public Schools for $50 each on Aug. 9th
Henrico County Public Schools, VA (Richmond area) has announced that it will sell 1,000 surplus iBooks to the public:
News Release Laptops on sale for $50 each A unique opportunity is available from Henrico County Public Schools. Used Apple iBook laptop computers will be on sale for $50 each, with a one-per-person limit. The one-day sale will be held Tuesday, Aug. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. One thousand laptops will be sold at the school warehouse — 361 Dabbs House Road beside the Eastern Government Center — on a first-come, first-serve basis. Only cash or checks will be accepted. The white, Power PC 750s with 12-inch screens have 320 megabytes of memory, Mac OS 10.2.8, and AppleWorks 6.2.9. From Interstate 64, take exit 193B. Travel east on Nine Mile Road and turn left at the second stoplight on Dabbs House Road. The warehouse is on the right. From the specs given, they appear to be the Dual USB iBooks from 5/2001: Full 500mhz iBook PDF from download.info.apple.com ---------------------- 12.1" display, 1024 x 768 max White case ATI Rage Mobility 128 w/ 8 MB SDRAM 500 MHz PPC G3 (PPC 750) 320 MB RAM (64 MB PC100 SDRAM on board; 256 MB in 1 user slot; user slot can hold 512 MB SDRAM) 10 GB HD 10/100BASE-T Airport card included 1 FW, 2 USB ports Optiical drive type not specified Modem presence not specified VGA and composite video out AC adapter Battery (condition unknown, but doubtful) OS X 10.2.8, AppleWorks 6.2.9, and other basic apps http://www.henrico.k12.va.us/ Not sure how good these are, but for $50, I wouldn't mind picking one up.
