Gun Thread :D

I was reminded that I'm turning 21 soon by bry's thread, I'm going to be looking into a hand gun. I'm sure plenty of people have experiences to share, so share! What gun do you have and how do you like it? Have you added stuff to them? (Don't limit it to pistols, I like rifles and shotguns too )

First thing for me is comfort, I dont' want to hold a clunker. Second is ease of use and maintenance, accuracy and power, then style. I really like Sig's but there are a ton of guns I've had no experience at all with.

Right now I own a 10/22, and a Colt revolver (for show not use). That reminds me I was having problems with my 10/22 so if anyone is good with guns lemme know.

For Stinehart:
The one on top is the one you can get pretty cheap at places like Big 5. Mossberg 500 series
http://www.mossberg.com/pcatalog/Specpurp.htm

The one a little farther down is the one I REALLY want, haha.

Another good one is the Remington 870, I didn't look for one with a shorter barrel though.

You can get the old kind still but they're kind of a collector thing. If I got one I wouldn't want to ruin it by shooting it either

What do you think of the " SAIGA .410 semi-auto SHOTGUN"

http://club.guns.ru/eng/saiga410.html
Now there is another excellent .410 bore shotgun on the market which may well be as good as or better than the Mossberg HS410 - the SAIGA .410 SHOTGUN. The cost of the Saiga is only about $270.00 - delivered, in 2005. It is an adaptation of the Kalashnikov designed AK-47 designed to fire .410 Magnum shot shells, has a semi-automatic action, and it comes with two magazines. With its 19" barrel, it would be handy in confined places, and it also comes with two choke tubes, increasing its versatility. The rate of fire would be better than with the Mossberg, and reliability is reportedly extremely high, but as with everything there are other factors to consider: A semi-auto action is less tolerant of loads than a slide action such as the Mossberg, so reloading for the Saiga requires more care and testing to be certain of reliable feeding. More information on the Saiga .410 shotgun can be found at http://www.weareguns.com/saiga.html

I am a hard core Republican. I hate guns. Sure everybody should be able to have one, but no one needs hi powered assault weapons. My experience with guns is some piece of excrement crack head deadbeat held one to my head and I heard him **** the trigger before he took off.

That is why we need concealed carry laws. The bad guys might think twice if the know someone is packing. And the Bush sticker on my car almost says that I am.

I personally would be more afraid of a knife to the throat, than a gun to the head. At least the gun would be quick.

If you have knife to my throat from behind, I can disarm you. If you have a gun and approcah me, you win. If you have a knife and approach me, it's 50-50 at that point.

Even being more of a moderate, growing up in a gun-free household, I still think that the right to own a gun is extremely important. I just think that penalties for losing a gun should be really tough. It wouldn't be such a problem if it weren't so easy to just get a gun.

I know that there was progress being made to add bio-sensors to the grips. This way, only the licensed user could make it fire. If we could perfect this, I'd be much more likely to support the private ownership of guns.

Then we'd have to figure out how to get all of the many many millions of guns out of circulation.

I think a sensor mandate would be very impractical, especially because there are so many collectors out there that would cringe at the thought of having to install these on all their guns.

Also, what about rifles? With the exception of SMG's and assault rifles, there is no grip to install anything on.

I think a much better idea would be mandatory yearly check-ins for all your guns. If they make you do it with a car so that it won't kill people, why not a gun? It's made to kill.

If someone was holding a gun on me I would hate the man, not the gun. Obviously, guns make it easier for criminals to do what they do. But I think if guns were restricted, getting a gun would be just as easy as getting illegal drugs. There would be a ton of money in selling illegal guns, which would bring in the people who want that money, making guns accessible for those who don't care if they break laws to acquire them. Meanwhile all the honest people who obey the laws can't get guns anymore. I don't believe gun restrictions will ever reduce the crime rate. As jgvernonco mentioned in the NRA thread, places that restricted guns actually tend to experience an increase in the crime rate.

I don't really like guns because I am deaf in my left ear, but I do like to shoot them (though I haven't shot 1 in probably 7 years lol!!). I have a .22, but that thing hasn't been shot since I got it. But I agree with 40s about the cocking pistols as used on Gunsmoke. Those are nice!

My roomate carries a glock45 and he loves it (he has a concealed carry permit). I have never shot it, but it feels really solid in my hand and I wouldn't mind carrying one myself.

I used to go hunting a good bit with my dad when I was younger , but havent since. I wasnt afraid of guns then, but for some reason they make me very nervous now.
My dad, in his later years, was borken into * his house* and the burgler took my dads gun and used it on him . After that, my dad never kept guns and he had been a big gun fan.

I also went hunting as a young girl with my father, only thing I ever killed was a squirrel, always missed the big bucks
Dad always let me use his 20 gauge w/ punkinballs
I still own a 22, use it to kill varmits around the house ( groundhogs/ squirrels/ neighbors cats.....lol )
My son is now turning 12 in Sept. he has been using my 22 to practice shooting, hes actually pretty good shot.

I would like a small pistol I could carry with me for protection, but being a few months from becoming a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, I dont think I need gun

I got 8 22 cal shots in an area the size of a quarter at Boy Scout camp one time. I'm not sure of the distance but it was on the second farthest "clothesline" that was there.

I think I'm going to join the rifle team in college. That would be fun I think.
