Big brother will watch you in the office

HITACHI is demonstrating a system which means that if you're in the office you'll be able to run, but you may not be able to hide.
According to a report in the Nikkei Business Daily, the system will use chair based sensors, wireless enabled name tags, while the whole tracking system will be controlled from a single PC.

Just pin your name tag to your chair when you get up. To many ways around this. Wonder if a tinfoil hat would help

it might be more detailed than simply making sure you are in your chair...

like for example, it might be able to tell what position you are sitting in, and have a guess as to if you are working.

and, if it keeps graphic logs, you could look at the entire days worth of movements, or week, or year, or whatever.

i almost think i saw that in an episode of the jetsons, when george tilted back his chair, and an alarm went off in spacely's office.

man, that's creepy.

Anyone remember the "Honey I shrunk the kids" episode where Salinsky (who's first name escapes me), builds a clock, and some coporate dude uses it to only pay his employees for when they are actually working?

That's scary! Imagine the amount of workaholics, stress related disorders, and suicide rates that would result if you had no chance to relax (even for a second) without taking a dock in pay.
