Newspaper Shrimp Dinner

Anyone have one of these? I saw one on a show the other day, it looked interesting. I was thinking of making a small one, and if it turns out good doing a big one for the 4th of July.

The recipe I found was:

1 1/2 lbs raw medium pink gulf shrimp (shell on)
1 1/2-2 lbs smoked sausage (andouille also works well)
6 new potatoes
6 chicken drumsticks or chicken thighs
3 ears fresh corn, broken in half
1 large white onion
1/4 cup Old Bay Seasoning (I use a local blend that can be replicated by mixing bay seasoning with some garlic powder. Adjust t)
1 large orange (sliced or quartered)
4 key limes (halved)
1 teaspoon red wine vinegar (this makes the shrimp easier to peel after cooking)

I ate tainted shrimp on Christmas eve...I don't think I'll be having them again any time soon.

Guys, I think I've discovered Danrak's secret identity.... he's Emeril!

Seriously, that sounds like a good recipe for Frogmore stew (and no pun intended toward your avatar Danrak)!

Make sure you get your shrimp fresh...once you've had fresh seafood you can never go back.

I went to one of the "best seafood restaurants" in austin and couldn't stand the food. It was horrible. I went to New Orleans and my uncle cooked us some fresh fish that he caught out on the bayou and it was so good. In short...make sure its fresh!

That's the special thing about fish, every thing else you can wait a little while but there is something about sea food that just begs for it to be eaten fresh

in Japan their fanaticle about it, there is a restraunt there that deep fries one half of a fish while keepng the head alive, so when you get it the meaty part is cooked but it's still alive!

now that's fresh

I know some shrimpers, so that is not a problem. :D

I love fireworks. One of my friends gave me a dozen or so bottle rockets. I like to stick them in the ground and watch them blow little craters into my lawn

Be careful! I found out that I am allergic to shell fish the hard way and almost croaked.

In Ohio, you can but fireworks, you just have to sign a waiver saying you are not from Ohio, because you can't shoot them off in Ohio.

And again, be careful, we had a group of kids in our neighborhood that would put bottle rockets in the old coke bottles and chase each other around, shooting them like missles. One kid shot one accidentally into his house and burned up the family room.

In Florida you can buy them, but you have to sign a waiver stating that you'll use them for misquetto control, or agrucultural use.

When I was younger, a good bottle rocket/fireworks battle was just something I couldn't pass up....almost gave a buddy of mine a reverse Mohawk with a Roman candle though!

Heard about the guy that blew his cajones off trying to imitate a stunt pulled on MTV's *******: the movie? Pretty stupid, if you ask me. There's just no substitute for common sense.

I had a co-worker whose family owned “The Largest Fireworks Stand in the South”. (Of course they all say that but it doesn’t really matter for this story…)

Anyway, every year he’d go to his family store in Nashville and return with his car full of grocery bags crammed full of fireworks. He offered a bag to me and I asked about the cost. He told me about the unbelievable amount of mark up. So the bag he gave me would have cost about $150 retail – cost him less than $10, which he wouldn’t take. So, when you go buy some from one of those super stores remember even at “Buy one get 5 free” they’re still making a bundle.

And Indiana too had that crazy rule that you could buy them there but not set them off. And, you had to “join” the store’s club or some such BS. It was an extra $1 to join…
