That was fascinating especially the shots of the ejecta material ...

Made me dig out one of my souvenirs. A 20mm canon projectile that was fired on a MOD test range at a plate of steel some 50 years ago.. The velocity was such that it burnt its way through but then welded itself to the plate. The kinetic energy pulled a plug of steel plate out from the mother material.

That's some bit of metal, to have kept its shape intact after going through plate steel - it looks reminiscent of those ancient cannonballs, seen in museums etc.
