Re: bootleg windows 7
It's not just the full retail versions - there was working copies of Windows 7 Release Candidate since they came out.
China isn't the only problem, another one for ''retail-priates'' as I call them, is Russia. I know for a fact that there is a company legally selling pirated copies of games, movies, music and even hardware like routers, and for a very small price. Russia has over 100 million people, equate that to the global market and they dig a nice hole in companies` profit. Approximately 75% of everyone with a computer pirates hardware or software, and more often then not parents or even grandparents get their 'techno-savy' kids to pirate things for them. The fact of the matter is, so long as pirates continue to survive, they will never stop. Groups like Razer1911 probably get no profit out of it, they claim to have good moralities (stating in their .nfo's that they buy all their games and you should do the same) but in reality, they still contribute to the global ecnomic failiure. If the government really wanted to stop pirates, they would enlist their oh-so-elusive agencies to track the pirates and punish them. Sure, this might cause some taxpayers money and time, but I think that it's taxpayers money well-spent it is executed correctly. It's not hard to do an IP-trace and find where the pirates are living, and give them a life probation.

Re: bootleg windows 7
My neighbor down the street has had a working full version of 7 since he modified the RC. According to him he only does it to see if he can then cleans his Hdd out ( until he gets busted that is )
Myself I wouldn't even consider using anything with the pirate flag, caus e99% of that junk is (1) just that, junk and (2) riddled with Trojans and viruses.

Re: bootleg windows 7
You'd be surprised at how clean most pirated stuff is. You just have to know where to look.

Re: bootleg windows 7
I agree - those that believe that Windows 7 is a piece of cake to crack... think again. I'm not saying it can't be done, I don't know. I often think of the agony some go through trying to achieve this "goal". Just how much pain and anguish are you willing to endure by running an unstable OS, given that work &/or personal files may be lost?
And yes, there were those who incredibly ran cracked versions of Windows 7 Beta and RC, which were available for free from Microsoft for 9 months. One such admission came early one morning while seeking help for the infamous Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) and sending intermittent "hey let's go, I'm ready" PMs to me at the rate of 1 every 5 minutes. . . Re: bootleg windows 7
Unfortunatly I must be ignorant. I've used cracked OSes in the past with absolutely no problems at all.

Your not ignorant, your one of three things, either mis-informed, not worried about it, or don't know what your looking for in the Microsoft op sys's. ANYTHING M/S has spy programs that report who has what and the key gens make a key for Win98-7 that works great, but there is a code in M/S thats so randomly placed in various places that you'll never find it, which compares you key you just made with the key that M/S sats should be there, then either everything works until you try to update the O/S, their website records updates that don't install, those are the ones that rat you out to M/S. Thats how they know why has cracked software, and a lot of companies are starting to do codes like that. My neighbor's kid can't even find all the little single byte files they use, and he was given a choice by the govt, (come work for us or be tried as an adult)

Re: bootleg windows 7
I don't want to sound rude, but you don't sound all that convincing. Especially that last bit about the government finding him.

I find that very hard to believe however in another country a firewall company hired a teenager that released I think it was the blaster virus...it might have been the sasser worm. Im not sure which. I read that on yahoo news a couple years back.

Re: bootleg windows 7
The government would care about a kid using a cracked OS. Microsoft will have released an update to piss off any one who is using a cracked copy and make their life miserable.
Man if the government would hire me I'd do anything illegal. Sadly thats not the way it works, otherwise all the bad people would be living openly and screwing over the honest people. |

Re: bootleg windows 7
Your not sounding rude, to me, I kinda don't believe him myself since I still see him at the bus stop when I leave for work in the morning, and besides they'd probably arrest me first for something or another that I didn't know I did back in the 80's
