Extraterrestrial life?

Just curious, I was watching some thing on TV I know what I saw on history and it was kind of interesting. It was about UFOs and what not. How many people here actually believe in extraterrestrial life? I don't mean just little green men, UFOs and cows getting mutilated. I mean it can be that but also just microscopic germs on another planet(I believe Nasa is looking into the moon of I believe Saturn named Titan) and it may be able to hold life. I personally believe there is microscopic life out there, but the little green men I am not to sure of. Though, those human implants when removed are quite mind boggling the way they describe how the body excepts it and such. So, what do you guys think about life beyond Earth, crazy? or something we as a planet should look further into?

Re: Extraterrestrial life?

Since the universe is so big, at least one solar system must have lifeforms whether if it's a bacterium or advanced organisms.

Re: Extraterrestrial life?

Life beyond our planet definately a yes. Intelligent life, thats what we are trying to prove.

However I would like to quote Ellie Arroway "I'll tell you one thing about the universe, though. The universe is a pretty big place. It's bigger than anything anyone has ever dreamed of before. So if it's just us... seems like an awful waste of space. Right?"

Really opens up your mind to ifinite possibilities

Re: Extraterrestrial life?

Space is too big to not have life somewhere else that is intelligent. There has to be something out there besides us. It could be a couple billion light years away but there is something out there.

It's only mankind's arrogance that claims that we're the only life in the Universe - The same sort of arrogance that claimed the Sun revolves around the Earth.

Re: Extraterrestrial life?

It would be interesting to find life outside earth, first contact(if they are intelligent) would be interesting since we have no known shared language. Many people says the government has some sort of relations with aliens and trade their technology for the use of humans(alien abduction). One thing that interests me, if you ever watch a removal of a "alien" implant their is tissue excepting a foreign object and it usually has some sort of magnetic field around it.

Re: Extraterrestrial life?

We may not even be the only life in our own Galaxy. There are plenty of solar systems right here to look at before trying to scour the universe.
Earth already has "markers" that were put here a long time ago. Others out there must not think it's time to check in on us yet.
Whether our "type" of life only evolved in this solar system is an unknown, and the reports of large-eyed, sickly looking aliens is probably a bit off.
Our own bulky, one-eyed looking suits would scare anyone out there!
There may be "triggers" that we have not found, or dont know how to activate, that will bring someone else here. We need to work on that.

Re: Extraterrestrial life?

The absence of proof is not proof of absence.

As far as any having ever visited earth, Carl Sagan said it best: "If they're so advanced as to be able to travel through the vast interstellar distances, why didn't they leave undeniable proof of their visit?" He used as an example leaving an ingot of an alloy made of aluminum and lead. Impossible to make on earth. Of course, maybe they did 100 million years ago but left it where we can't find it - plate tectonics being what it is.

Re: Extraterrestrial life?

The millions of galaxies out there, there surely has to be another planet like ours.

And from what I can see, it looks as if a few aliens live here on Earth

Absolutely not. Don't ask me why, but it's what I've believed for ever so you can't make me change that unless they actually start turning up in my lifetime.

Re: Extraterrestrial life?

Definitely. There are just soooooooooo many stars out there. There has to be a planet around one of them supporting life.

Re: Extraterrestrial life?

Hopefully if there is advance life out there, it isn't belligerent. Especially if they were light years ahead of us. But I think the most belligerent race in the universe is us.

Re: Extraterrestrial life?

Heh. You'd be surprised.

I actually have a theory about that.

With increased intelligence comes the increased likelihood of being "evil"/"bad" etc.
