Wireless Power
Eric Giler wants to untangle our wired lives with cable-free electric power. Here, he covers what this sci-fi tech offers, and demos MIT's breakthrough version, WiTricity -- a near-to-market invention that may soon recharge your cell phone, car, pacemaker.
http://www.ted.com/talks/eric_giler_...ectricity.html The Video is 10mins long, but it was interesting stuff. As a Sparky Wireless power is real and is possible. Good old Tesla invented it back in the 1900s but was squashed by the government, possibly because of "Brain melting" , joking joking..It would make my job a lot easier just wire a coil on the roof of a house and thats that job done.

Re: Wireless Power
If it means losing most/all the cables behind my PC's, then I'm all for it - Another dust-bunnies breeding centre gone....

Re: Wireless Power
Tesla's wireless power scheme still needed wires... He envisioned hot air balloons stationed over every major population center with special towers on the top. Power would be broadcast through the Earth's magnetic field to the towers, then carried to the ground and then to homes by wires. It turns out he made some assumptions about the Earth's magnetic fields in regards to its capacitance and such that were later proved wrong by experiments after his death.
This is probably based on a different technology though. *reads* EDIT: Want.
