Paterson curfew proposed to curb violence removed from city council agenda
PATERSON -- A proposed citywide curfew has been removed from the city council's agenda, for unclear reasons, according to a report by the Record.
Paterson Mayor Jose "Joey" Torres had proposed a midnight-to-7 a.m. curfew in the wake of several deadly shootings since late July that happened after midnight, the report said. Councilman Jeffrey Jones, the council president, who could not be reached for comment allegedly pulled the curfew vote, the report said. Under the proposed curfew, residents would not be allowed to loiter or congregate outdoors overnight, and violators would have faced a $2,000 fine and up to 90 days in jail. http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/200..._curfew_t.html
