Linn County Sheriff's Office says speeder was clocked at 153 MPH

A California man was arrested in Linn County on Saturday after a deputy clocked him at 153 miles per hour, the sheriff's office said.

Christopher V. Gordy, 25, was driving a Mazda. He faces accusations of attempting to elude a police officer, reckless driving, reckless endangering and violation of the basic speed rule. He was booked into the Linn County jail.

Gordy was eastbound on U.S. 20 about 9:30 a.m. when he passed a deputy headed west, according to the sheriff's office.

As Gordy allegedly tried to elude the deputy, he crashed into a ditch. Neither he nor his passenger was injured.

Re: Linn County Sheriff's Office says speeder was clocked at 153 MPH

Today's cars are very fast..... some do have a speed limiter that can be bypassed.

Was this speeder a cop?? I couldn't find the link at the local newspaper on the story about two local cops that were caught speeding recently. They were going about as fast as the guy in Linn County.

Here in UK all cars are electronically limited to 155mph. Well most are.

With a few simple mods, or bigger ones if you want to go faster, you can easily sail past 160mph
