compliment letter

Ok, it seems like people love to call up companies and complain or write them letters. But how many people send a letter or give a call when employee goes out of their way to help them? This just seems like a rare thing today. I do not know if people are just expecting free stuff for complaining or what.

Re: compliment letter

At my last job I got a letter praising my work. At my current job I've had a number of customers call in to leave their compliments.

Re: compliment letter

I always make a point of calling/writing to thank folks for a job well done, it's just part of how I was dragged up

Re: compliment letter

I don't know if its me or society but the last time I remember getting a "letter of Praise" was back in the 80's ..

I'm sure I still do a great job,

it's just that no-one appreciates me any more

Re: compliment letter

That was one of the things that really annoyed me, in my last job as DTP and graphic-artist for a high-street print-shop.

Customers would either phone or call in the shop to say what a good job had been done on their order, but the boss never passed that thanks on - He'd just say "That's what I pay them for..." (which was a joke!)

If the boss was out at lunch/deliveries/golf, I always passed the thanks on to the printer-guy out the back - Apparently, in the 9-10 years he'd been there, I was the 1st ever to do that.

It's a sad world when people can't be bothered with politeness and good manners

Re: compliment letter

My friend works in the bakery section at a local grocery store and people sent in a letter expressing gratitude on the help he gave. He got a free box of cookies!

Re: compliment letter

I don't do either. I pay for my product and/or service with CASH. When a company pays me to be a consultant to do the managerial work of finding ways in which they can improve their business, I'll be willing to expend my time and energy in that regard.

I hold Management directly responsible for all deficiencies in the way they do business, and am not going to do their job for them for free. I'll just find someone else that knows what they are doing, and provides good value in exchange for my money.
