Mouse Builds Nest In ATM With $20 Bills

LA GRANDE, Ore. -- A mouse found inside an automatic teller machine -- along with a nest it had built with chewed-up $20 bills -- gave an Oregon gas station employee the surprise of her life. The mouse, discovered Thursday, had thoroughly torn up two bills and damaged another 14 to line his nest. Employee Millie Taylor says she screamed and slammed the machine's door shut. The bank replaced all the money that wasn't extensively damaged, and the ATM has continued to work just fine. The mouse also got a reprieve: He was evicted from his nest but set free outside the station. Other workers at the Gem Stop Chevron in La Grande in eastern Oregon say they're mystified about how the mouse got inside the machine.

Re: Mouse Builds Nest In ATM With $20 Bills

I had a small business a few years ago and had a fax machine in the office - the business was located in a business park and the shed next door was taken over by a pet supply business which used it to store hay and straw. Inevitably we ended up with a mouse plague - I would open up in the morning and there would be up to 20 or so mice running around under pallets etc, they ate the insulation out of the back of an old fridge in the store area.
Worst part though was when I came into the office one Tuesday morning after a long weekend and the fax both didn't work and smelt funny (no - not funny - stunk!). A quick check revealed not only one but two mice had curled up inside the fax machine to get warm and had been electrocuted and then started to decompose in the warmth.
Insurance wouldn't cover it - no vermin cover - the owner of the hay agreed to pay for it if I got a quote to fix it, took it to the repair shop after telling them what had happened, they asked me to come to back door and they would take a quick look and quote me which is exactly what they did - wouldn't let it inside - car stunk for weeks afterwards

I wonder how long it would take to train a mouse to retrieve some money for me??
