Re: Words I Hate
I want to stangle people who combine words like Frenemies and Bennifer. Who in their right mind would think that is cool and not annoying
Also the letters Z and X are used way out of context. They do not exemplify awesome things. The game CatZ for the Wii is not cool just becaus it uses the letter Z. |

Re: Words I Hate
I hate hearing
"I can't !!" to me the user really means "I won't" "I don't want to" or "I don't know how "

Blog, Blogging and Blogosphere.
Another trifecta of stupidity.

Re: Words I Hate
with regards, what I call respect, in forums and Private messages.
"Sir" "Dude", "Dood" etc I hate it when members start off threads or posts with "Sir" and then continue all the way through a thread. I know they mean well but it just comes over so strangely, almost (in my mind) like they are thinking one has super powers .. I hate it when I get called some strange name (like Dude) .. it's a forum and supposed to be friendly, but I'd rather have someone call me by my pseudonym rather than some colloquial translation of "friend" Here in Greece it's even worse since "young" people tend to use the term (translated) "Wanka" when they meet or or want to get their friends attention .. something I just cannot understand .. Different Cultures have different ways of interacting. Age groups also show very different methods of communication within the same culture. However one should be able to read "content" and respond accordingly ..

Re: Words I Hate
- Noob/its variants, mainly its disparaging and hostile usage in gaming.
- The rolleyes emoticon in many certain contexts (used in place of words with stronger meaning). - Starting a line with "So" and typing "such as", "such that", and just "such" every other word; the over-use. Gives away the nationality of that person instantly too. - Post #24 by DF is also something I dislike strongly and face the most on a daily occurrence. When you ask someone and immediately they have a pre-meditated response ready "I can't". No doubt the real answer is something other. The same when they say "I don't know" misusing the words true meaning and usage for a quick and easy alibi. - Many exonym, and many bastardizations of a language, especially by foriegners/immigrants, where they make up new words instead of using and mastering the existing words with that meaning, or twist the existing words meaning into something other, in that respective language (different to slanguage). I'm a firm believer of speaking and using any language properly. For instance, words such as "Taliban" make me sorry at the immense alienated nature of some people. Taliban is a generic word and is mostly referenced as Talib-ilm, as in tay-alif-laam-bay 'ain-laam-meem. A word people in Asian and Middle Eastern countries, in over 40 odd languages, call a student of knowledge. Practically everyone in such countries would say they are talib, talibaan or talibilm, interchangeably. I've always been one as long as I can remember. |

Re: Words I Hate
Hi Kalim .. it's been a long time since our paths crossed
Thanks for that enlightening piece of information about Taliban .. I (and probably many, many people like me who are not so well informed) thought it was just a reference to a tribe or area.
