Digital-Jewelry Cell Phones
IBM is working on a project to have your wireless phone in the most unbelievable places. If you've read the article on the Motorola Timeport 270c then you will know about Bluetooth wireless technology. IBM is quite likely planning on using this Bluetooth to aid them in the completion of their project. Called Digital-Jewelry Cell Phones, this new technology combines the look and feel of jewelry with the functions of an advanced cell phone. The basic cell phone functions of this new digital jewelry include:
Microphone Receiver Touchpad Display Circuit board Antenna Battery With this new digital-jewelry phone, the keypad and dialing function could both be integrated into the bracelet, however IBM might dispose of the keypad and dialing function since most of the new phones out there now have the voice activation feature anyway. Simply say the name of the person that you want to call and the phone will do the work for you. IBM is still working on a miniature rechargeable battery that will power these little guys. As far as digital-jewelry goes, cell phones are just the beginning. There are others that are still to come, PDAs, GPS, computers where the actual PC part is your belt and the display is your sunglasses or regular eye glasses. It is possible that this new Digital Jewelry phone device could be out in 2002 or even earlier. So keep an eye out for someone with a flashing ring or who may look like their talking to themselves, even though you don't see an ear piece on their head, they just might be on the phone. |
