Drivers License

I dont know about anywhere ellse , but they just passed a law that you have to be eighteen to get your drivers License, what the crap is that, all there doing is making it where kids are going to drive illegally , like they dont already, I remember how it was , I swear it felt like it took forever to reach 18 and be a legal begal, now my kids are going to have to wait till their 18 and then who knows by that time it might be 21, they are really getting crazy with stuff, I mean what is the point in that, most kids I know dont even have their first wreck until they are 18 anyway, so I wonder if insurance will get higher due to the fact they wont be able to charge that high rate for teenage drivers. Man you would think there were better things to worry about then whether a kid drives at 16 or 18. With everything going on these days this was the best problem they could come up with , and actually have another law.BSBSBSBSBSBSBSBSBSBSBSBSBSBSBSBSBSBSBSBSBS

Hmm. You're right about that. Maybe just restricted driving times ... say 3:00PM - 7:00PM!

the law was probely support by the insurance comanys:money:...teenagers make up the MAJORITY of the accidents ...wheter involved or causing it...driving experiance helps alot...plus the fact that "grown-up" have fear where teenagers think they will live forever...

not old...not ready for bengay (yet!!) just tired of punk asses...was one of them...whoes have a car handed to them, insurance and repairs handed to them...and a total disregaurd for other people:angel:

Now Doonz , not all the kids are like that , I know alot of kids who have been working and slaving for the car they want, not everyone gets stuff handed to them, and not all are punks, but dont get me wrong I m not saying its a bad thing but where are they going to get the experience for driving if they are not allowed until they are 18. Food for thought: most kids that grow up in the country or on a farm are better drivers than those who dont, a simple fact that most kids in the country or on a farm are driving when they anyway from 10 to 15 and oyr very responsible because they were taught to respect the role as driver.
Off the soap box now...................

Where I live there's to many damn cars on the road anyway. It takes me an hour to go someplace that used to take twenty minutes about fifteen years ago. And it's only going to get worse.

But 18 is kinda like way out of reality. If your old enough to hold steady employment then you should be able to get your drivers license..............IMHO.............:D

We all know stories about ... "Joey's parents got him a BMW on his 16th birthday and he totaled the next week! And they got him another one ..."

MHO, if ANYONE wants to drive - they should bear the FULL responsibility - Car payments, car tax, tags, insurance, maintenance, etc. etc. It would teach the 16 year old's something about the "Real World".

ALSO ... Drivers license exam should be more than a minimum IQ test ... like Europe!

Doonz Im sorry , your right I probably dont see the things you do, and I know what you say is true , mommy and daddy hands it over on a silver platter, but I was just stating that I thought 18 was to old , they should maybe extende the learning permit for another year or something instead of making them wait till they are 18. Most kids here have their first jon when their 15, so I guess things are bound to be different.

Forgive me Doonz. :kiss2: :kiss1: :crying: :sulk:

Shanna, Im sure that Tech will understand...hehehe :D right tech?

And about the license... Instead of just raising the legal age for drivers license, they should maybe help 16 yr. olds become a better driver, maybe offer free or weekend classes for newly licenced drivers or actively get involved in drivers ed at local schools and offer more resources ( like getting rid of those 50yr old black and white movies ) ...Im sure they think that kids will be more mature by the age of 18...And like Doonz said, dont hand everything to them...I had to work my butt off for my car, my brother as well, and then they would appreciate it more...And also, where I live, if you're under 18, you cant drive past 11pm...I think thats somewhat sensible but I dont think its being enforced because every night I see kids that look like they're 12 ripping through my neighborhood, living our GTA or something...

You know I agree with that, and I was given my first car by my parents and it was a pos but I had a job when I was 16 working nights and weekends and gooing to school, so I had to earn that car, and I helped pay the bills at home, sometimes it poed me but I realize that somethings that are taught , go with you when you grow up.
