Can't say I like that version all that much but it's a nice song.

Re: Song around the World.....

Hi WereBo,

I guess it is a matter of taste.

Thanks for the link.... I thought it was well worth a DL and quite enjoyed that version.

Perhaps way cool is an understatement?? I thought it was outstanding!!

Re: Song around the World.....

I must admit, I've never liked 'Soul' or even 'Motown' music, but this is something else again.
______________________________________________________

Waaay back in the 90's, there was a project called 'One World One Voice', to raise the Worlds awareness of all the environmental issues and problems that were (and still is) happening. 250 musicians from all over this planet contributed to it's making.

It's the only album where I bought both the album (vinyl) to listen at home and a cassette for my car. Somewhere in the 12 parts, is the phrase I use in my usual (Non-Christmas) banner - "Laugh not at me as you pass by....) - watch for the Chrissie Hynde clip

The whole album is also on Youtube, but because of the length, it's been split into 12 parts. I've linked part one below, the rest can be found in the 'Related Videos' alongside.

There's also an accompanying set of videos - 'The Making of One World One Voice, which shows just how it all came about and introduces the musicians/singers involved. Link to part one below. If you want to watch the whole lot together, you'll need about 2 hours spare - an hour each, but it's well worth it, you'll be blown away

Re: Song around the World.....

Hehehehe.... All my reel-to-reels have gone (used on a Grundig TK20!!!) - Although somewhere in my cupboard is a reel of 24-track tape, the original studio tape of a band I was in, many moons ago.

I still have all my vinyls (approx 1,500 albums) and approx 150 cassettes, although most of the cassettes are either recordings of the albums or selected tracks pulled off them. I got approx 1/4 way through ripping the vinyls to.MP3, but I had to pack everything away when my flat (apartment) had some major repairs/redecoration done to it.

Re: Song around the World.....

I like that link, its pretty cool how they took like a recording of one person and kept adding others, its just flowed really nicely into one big remote orchestra
