weird theft

My son, who lives with his mum, just told me that their letterbox was stolen overnight - weird thing - it was one on a metal pole that had been concreted in - they took pole, letterbox and lump of concrete too. They must have been really desperate!!

Re: weird theft

Here is a solution to ensure next box is not stolen!

You can always substitute the dog with a brown or tiger snake!

Re: weird theft

good idea DonaldG
not sure that their dog would fit: Suzie is a 16yr old black and tan Kelpie cross - she would definitely make enough noise (in her hoarse, coughing bark-like way)
Like the sound of the snake tho -just bags not putting it there myself

Re: weird theft

Is your son still in school?? Did someone irritate the letter carrier??

I spent much money and time repairing my mailbox when the kids were in high school. I even resurected a completely flat one just for spite. It was common for me to see a battered box when the kids were in school, but now that they are grown my poor old mailbox hasn't been molested in ages.

Re: weird theft

no SABL he has left school and as far as I know no-one has irritated the mailman - maybe someone has irritated the thief - or maybe its just someone who thought it was a good idea at the time and needed a mailbox - who knows - wait and see if the next one goes or anything else untoward happens there.

Re: weird theft

I never had that problem because my mailbox is like the one in the picture below....but seriously. Who digs up a mail box? That takes time and effort...I wouldn't even be mad, I'd be impressed!

Re: weird theft

The strangest part was it wasn't for an apartment complex...all the mailboxes in our neighborhood are grouped together like that based on what street you live on. I've seen mailboxes like that in apt complexes before, but never in a neighborhood

Perhaps the 'mailbox owner' was a lottery winner
