Re: Everybody's PIN

since most pins are 4 numbers and the numbers shown are from 0000 to 9999 isn't it just a little bit obvious that EVERYONE's PIN would be listed ...

Even a blonde should be able to work that one out

Re: Everybody's PIN

This is a big issue these days. About 2 months ago my brother had $1000 disappear from his account, 4 of his friends as well had $$$ taken from their accounts without knowing. 3 people from my work had it happen aswell and these are just people I know! Many used different banks. none used the same bank machine within the last month atleast and it turns out that 2 guys in Montreal, QC, Canada had rigged some bank machines so when you put in your card the device would scan it and all the info incl. the pin#. The bank said they caught these guys in April and believe they have been doing this for atleast 2 years and are likely selling the cards that they made using the bank card info that was scanned before they go to prison.

2 weeks ago another of my friends had money disappear as well. This time it was withdrawn from a bank machine in Quebec City.

Re: Everybody's PIN

the machines are now fitted with anti theft devices . have been for some time .. looks like a green transparent cover at the card entry . Having said that though , my mother (just turned 80) used one some months back that hadn't been modified and was tricked into giving away her pin number by a helpful Samaritan who just happened to be passing. Luckily for her there is a limit on her card and they only got a few hundred pounds using the card which had "jammed" inside the machine and was retrieved afterwards by said Samaritan. All this was caught on camera and the Bank made amends to my mum by refunding her losses ..

look for the machines with the extra green insert that stops the thieves from adding their own and keep the keyboard covered when putting your number. If anything Jams .. don't leave the atm until you have used your mobile to inform and declare the problem with the 24 hour contact service they have .

Good advice, but the number for this is usually on the back of the card - MAKE A NOTE OF IT NOW!

As soon as you report it, you are not liable for any funds fraudulently withdraw on your card, even if it happens in the next few minutes.

I thought the number was somewhere on the machine display .. but that may vary from bank to bank & country to country .. I know it's on the letter they send you with the card stuck to it .. so good advice that .. write down that number
