What next... felony charges for spanking?

I cannot believe the nanny society we have become on this planet. Soon yelling at a child will become a mental abuse, and grounding a kid will be against the law for putting a child in an anti-social development and sent to state care

It's the lack of parenting that's screwing up society! If I misbehaved when I was young I'd get the paddle. As I got older my parents would take away priveledges (notice I didn't say RIGHTS) to punish me. I hated that paddle but I'm not afraid to use it. I am, however, afraid of a school nurse calling child services on me for doing so.

We don't need a world full of spoiled children!

I see nothing wrong with an 11 year old walking. How many walk to school everyday?

I know I was in a different age but I was walking to kindergarten by myself in west sacromento california crossing major highways by myself. I walked a couple of miles daily to school in elementary school in missouri. I remember going to the grocery store pulling a little red wagen and a note getting groceries for my mom when in elemetary school.

It sounds like if I did that today my parents would get the death penality.

If you can remember Trapper Keepers then you probably walked to school.

Here's what I'd say to the DA: why is it unsafe for a 11 year old to walk a couple of blocks in your town? Aren't you supposed to make the streets safe? So which one of us isn't doing his job?

Then again its TEXAS, doesn't the youngster carry a 9mm for protection?

Hey now... I thought it was illegal to use the metric system in Texas... that would be a .35 caliber pistol

I'm not a native so I don't know all the rules. I do hear that when a texan is born they're given a sawed off shotgun.

Where I live most people can barely afford food so the state gov't gives them the gun.

Re: Father's arrest ignites debate over child abandonment

Does the state provide body armour to the shop keepers or do they just get given an even bigger gun?
