Some of you will recall Hulk Hogan's son was involved in a car wreck some months ago, and his passenger was severely injured. Below is a link to the passenger in his hospital room. WARNING: this video is not for the faint of heart. Very graphic. Click at your own risk.

I don't think he was feeling much of anything carsey. Also pain meds interfere with neurological assessment which is indicated for a head injury, but you would think that at that severity he would just be on comfort care.

As long as the brain stem is intact, sure. Not for very long though.

For its complexity and design the brain is amazing at healing itself. I once read a report about a boy who had his left hemisphere blown out by an RPG. The other half adapted and now he functions as normally as anyone else.
