Some retailers give vinyl records a spin

Store accidentally orders vinyl LP records instead of CDs. Puts them on sale anyway... PROFIT!

Re: Some retailers give vinyl records a spin

Excellent news, I've been waiting for vinyl to make a comeback

I've still got all my old vinyl albums (approx 1,000ish) and Pioneer deck, buried (but to hand) in my spare room - they've mostly been ripped to .MP3. It still keeps me happily occupied for hours, editing every 'click scratch and pop' off the recordings

I can definitely hear the difference between a vinyl recording and a CD, vinyl has a warmer and richer sound, unlike CD's. Also, the record sleeves are big enough to be able to actually see the cover-art and read the notes clearly. CD sleeve notes are mostly written in 0.5 point text and need a microscope to read!

Re: Some retailers give vinyl records a spin

I recently bought a stack of LPs from a book sale here at the library. Now I just need to convince my parents to sell me their player. They never use it!

I still have my old jvc turntable and a few albums. I noticed you can find hundreds of albums at several junk shops in the area and some are still asking a pretty penny for them.

you can get new digital turntables. I've seen them at London Drugs. not sure if they sell then in the U.S. or britain, though.

they better for what they are priced at. for now, I will stick with my old fashion stylus one, with scratches and all for the few times I use it.

Re: Some retailers give vinyl records a spin

I have some records, and a player. But the player has no needle. But my dad has one and uses all the time. I have thought about spending the $100US for one of those USB turntables so that I can convert to .mp3. Now if they will make a USB 8-track player...

Re: Some retailers give vinyl records a spin

i thought .mp3 was a lossy audio format. why not convert to a lossless one to retain the original quality of the record?

Re: Some retailers give vinyl records a spin

I use MP3 mainly cos my car's CD/radio can play MP3 CD's and, my mobile-phone's MP3 player - well it speaks for itself really
