Why? You want to go? I've done a couple weddings, all from my Mac. I let the happy couple pic out the music, and then I fill in the gaps with stuff that goes along.

Just wondered, never heard of games at wedding receptions, childrens birthday parties maybe...

And as far as i know we Brits are still in the top 3 of alcohol guzzling nations on the planet, (not suggesting we should be proud of that) but maybe in different countries a wedding reception may involve playing games.

I think your right about letting the couple choose or just play some classics but not from any particular genre, you will always get requests from guests and if you play the wrong kind of stuff someone will tell you.

Okey-cokey is always good but wait till everyone's had a good drink.

I like karaoke personally, but only in conjunction with, as opposed to instead of, the disco.

@ Sinc, you caught my attention when you mentioned, in another thread that you are a ham and just noticed your call sign in your sig. This is another one of those subjects on a very long todo list which i never got round to but have been interested since the 70's when USB stood for upper side band. Yes, i know it was illegal but that just added to the excitement.

Sorry for hijacking thread, i'll shut up now.

example of serbian wedding:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARwAe...eature=related

loads of hot girls and loads of alcohol... But I post this because I hate this music... They are such a redneck ^-^
But when you get drunk, you forgot about music, just trying to get under some girl dress ^-^

Its not like .. bingo or anything

Stuff like getting the groom inside the bride .. :P

I tried looking for some "wedding" cd's . stuff that have a compilation of music to play during weddings .. but not sure which ones are good. because there are so many.

I got mine after they dropped the code requirement here in the states. You should check to see if they have for you too. With out the code, it's soo easy to get a lience here now. Te test questions are online, I just took them over and over untill I passed 90% of them, then took the real test.

Back on topic, I just have done LDS weddings, so not one drop of firewater anywhere near the place. One friend had me do a bunch of line dances, like the YMCA and electric slide, something to get people out on the dance floor. But in a nut shell, they were typically 2-3 hours long. The 1st half was the line, so either classical, of soft love songs playing in the background so people could talk without yelling. Then the 1st dance of the happy couple to their song. Then the daddy-daughter dance, and then songs that could be danced to, box-step/waltz type songs until the couple took off, and the rest of the family called it a night and started cleaning up.

Think i'm sort of getting your drift now but cos i still don't even know what country you live in, its a bit difficult, but in the circles i'm familiar with, Van Morisson's Brown Eyed Girl, (especially if the bride has brown eyes, ), Elton John classics, Cotton eye Joe, Amarillo.

Even the few i have mentioned depend on the mood of your audience, and i think that is the secret, if you play a particular type of music and the dance floor fills up, play more of same. In my world, the people that do this kind of thing are usually hired because they do this kind of thing for a living. Never heard of getting a friend to do it, but that is just the culture that i know.

@Sinc, Will chat with you about the Ham stuff when i got more time.

Re: DJ at a wedding

This is a Korean cultured wedding but .. with added american stuff .. I dont know.

Yeah getting a pro to do it is the best but i guess they are on a budget so ...

Thanks for the suggestions i'll look into those.

I'm trying to get a variety of music ready , like you said . because i wont know the mood of the crowd until the show is going ..

Thanks again

Not heard the track but i think Eminem is very under rated and misunderstood. I think he is a kind of modern day Shakespeare.

It is actually Cokey, not Pokey. I remember everyone taking the piss cos i was singing along to a track called Alsation back in the 80's and it was actually called House Nation.
