Home projector~ as a third monitor.
Im trying to find a projector that i can use as a third screen for my laptop.
Is this possible? I already use a lcd monitor as a dual but i want a another home projector as my third monitor something i will shoot up against my wall to watch movies and stuff with my laptop. Also i want to hook up a game console to the projector at the same time. What projector would be good for this? OR at least what should i look for in the specs? |

Re: Home projector~ as a third monitor.
I would look at Epson, maybe the Powerlite Home Cinema 1080UB, 1080p resolution and high contrast ratio. Of course that runs at $3k, if you're looking a bit cheaper they have good cheaper models as well - but I think $3k is a really good deal for a projector with its specs. Maybe a year ago the cheapest 1080p projector I knew of was $10k... (I have a Powerlite 810 - got it before they came out with the 1080... 720p is still a fine resolution, but for use with a computer a higher resolution like 1920x1080 might be good)
From my knowledge of the 810 model, it has HDMI, DVI, and component ports and is compatible with computer use. Last edited by -=Rousseau=-; 06-03-2008 at 10:12 PM. |

Re: Home projector~ as a third monitor.
I think it should be perfectly fine. Windows is supposed to support up to 10 monitors, I don't see how one of them being a projector can hurt. Messing around with the settings might be a trick. In my experience with projectors, getting them to work is sometimes a hassle. Occasionally the laptop screen and projector would refuse to display simultaneously without one looking odd.
