Humans can see into the future, says a cognitive scientist.

It's nothing like the alleged predictive powers of Nostradamus, but we do get a glimpse of events one-tenth of a second before they occur.

And the mechanism behind that can also explain why we are tricked by optical illusions.

The optical nerve tranmits at about 10Mbps or so. It varies from person to person.

The study I read likened it to that data rate. It's really hard to measure if you think about it. We may not think in 1's and 0's (well, some people do) but it's a close enough analogy for most people to understand.
