Re: Windows XP SP3 Sows Havoc, Users Complain
From what I have heard it's some anomaly with HP, ASUS & AMD processors when one or more are involved with the upgrade ie ASUS &/OR HP with and AMD Processor but also it's thought that problems might be being caused due to "restore" partitions .. there's nothing concrete that I have heard of as yet that is responsible .. this is just where the problems are showing most ..

Most likely the apparent instability of SP3 is intentional from Microsoft. They realized XP is still better than Vista so they tried to turn things around (by messing up XP!)

You do realise that HP does not make processors or motherboards right? In fact the only parts in their computers made by them are some dvdrw drives and Personal Media drives. So your "heard" is definitely not correct. |

It's always occurred to me that it's really strange that an organisation with the resources that Micro$oft has can't get its own software right. Makes me wonder if, in this case, they just want to p!ss everyone off to such a degree that they just say, "Sod it, let's move to Vista".
I haven't installed a single update on my XP since SP1 and it runs fine; no random reboots, no security hacks, no explosions, no zombie-ing. The machine runs 24/7, and I play games on it, surf the net, do my household accounts, etc, and I've had it running beyond 60 days without a reboot. What does THAT say about these so-called "Critical Updates"? |
