BBC Radiophonic Workshop 50th Anniversary

The BBC Radiophonic Workshop created music and sound effects for everything from Doctor Who to The Goon Show.

To mark its 50th anniversary, two veterans returned to the studios where the Workshop was based to recreate some of the sounds that made the unit famous.

Re: BBC Radiophonic Workshop 50th Anniversary

In what way does that relate to creating the original music for Dr Who????

I just couldn't make the connection. If your intention was to confuse me, you succeeded admirably.

Re: BBC Radiophonic Workshop 50th Anniversary

Coooo, that opening video sequence certainly brought back some memories, playing with analogue EMS synths!!!

Back in the mid 70's to early 80's, I spent 2 happy evenings a week for 7 years at Goldsmith's College, playing in the college's own radiophonic workshop - comparable to the BBC's one.

I've got a couple of cassettes of my attempts and my old 1" reel-to-reel master tape, buried somewhere in a cupboard. I also have to admit to having an original 7" single of the Dr Who theme, too

Sadly, the tutor wouldn't let me take my sleeping-bag and move in there permanently

Happy days indeed
