is there something thats a combination of both?
Something that is less formal than MS word but has more structure than notepad? |

Wordpad has a bit more functionality than Notepad, which you could try.
You could also try the free open-source AbiWord, which is very much like Microsoft Word but not quite as bloated. If you're looking for a "Notepad upgrade", especially something geared more towards programming, there is Notepad++, which I found to be invaluable and very handy. |

I can throughly recommend UltraEdit by IDM software. I've been using it for years.
Incredible replacement for Notepad. It will open any file. and allows full editing. Simple to use. See: IDM UltraEdit-32 Regards Donald
