Whats this all about?

Don't suppose i'll ever get to know how this site works if i don't ask.

How is it possible for a user other than op to edit a post?

I guess you are going to say, not just any user can do it.

Did i totally forfeit control of my keyboard by signing up with TSF???????

not sure what you are asking but users can edit their own post for I think 30 minutes after submitting while moderators can edit any without time limits..

I'll just say thanks then. I've decided to start keeping my opinions to myself as i can feel myself getting a bit close to the knuckle sometimes and i think my username looks ok without a line through it.

No harm in asking, this is how you find out.

Re: Whats this all about?

I never understood the difference between mentor, moderator, manager and madministrator (other than they all start with m).

Re: Whats this all about?

I will explain the best I can (this is from what I have seen/ heard)

Mentor- Doesnt have any powers, they around basically to look after the techs.

Moderators - Clean up the forums, delete posts/threads edit threads, move etc. Mods are also aroynd to help keep the team under control

Mangers - Have more power than mods. They are mangers over there team to look after it and keep it under control. In other words the boss of the team.

Admin - Are basically the makers/ oweners of the site. They try and keep the forum together and under control

Re: Whats this all about?

So do teams actually operate like teams, with tasks allocated and friendly meetings; or is it largely just a title for people that tend to help out in a specific area?

Re: Whats this all about?

Team work. I cant speak for the other teams, but we are a team in every respect of the word. We each have our strengths & weaknesses. We try to coordinate tasks according to the strengths of each team member. We call on each others expertise when we need a bit of info or help when we are weak on a particular point. With JtP & his whip, we daren't do anything else!

Mentoring: I haven't seen a formal 'job description' written down but as a Mentor, I see my place within TSF & the Articles team as someone who is always available to any team member for help, guidance and advice. If I don't know the answer, it try & find out for them. If someone is struggling or a bit down, to give them that lift that will get them up & running again. I'm also the team gopher!

We get articles submitted non team members. While this is meat & bread to the A team, we must also ensure that the material is an original work, not plagiarised from another forum, that the author is the copyright holder and it is accurate.... We do our homework in the background and have found stuff that we cannot publish because of copyright issues.

They have their secret forums, handshakes, passwords and such. Every once in a while they have to offer up some offering to the top adiminstrator. Thats why some of the once active members disappear.

And now for the rest of the story, The teams are there to try to cover their respected areas 24 hours a day. Thats why there seems to be a lot of members on a team.

Very tasty they were too...

People move on forc, real life throws a boulder in your path, something happens to a loved one, there are a million reasons why people disappear for a while.

I know once I get back to work, I won't be posting as much as I am now! Still trying to master driving and typing at the same time!

I am secretly working on a headset that reads brainwaves and traslates them into text and commands on my laptop! Thus my poor spelling!
