Question AdwareSpy reviews?

Does anyone have any comment on AdwareSpy? I want to know if it is a worthy buy? I have a demo or something that only scans but you have to buy to fix, and it tells me I have 500+ problems. Are they real? NIS2004, spybotS&D, trendmicro online scan, and cwsShredder don't find anything?

What do you suggest? Does it work well? Is it honest?

Thanks for your opinion and time

Hi,

I seriously doubt that you have that many legitimate problems. Tell you what, if a program of this type tells you a free scan and shows hundreds of errors, but buy to fix....RUN, DON'T WALK AWAY FROM IT, because many of these programs put more spyware on your computer than you had before. Besides, they will not do the job that Adaware or Spybot S&D will do. Go the free way and save your money.

My System

Do not buy that program. We classify that program as being rogueware. Rogue/Suspect means that these products are of unknown, questionable, or dubious value as anti-spyware protection. It's a Ad-aware knockoff.

Best FREE combo - Ad aware and SpyBot plus AV

I have found the best combination at home to be Ad-aware, Spybot, and any AV software you choose (I use Sophos).

It's a little cumbersome, but as a sysadmin, I'm very wary of "auto" updates and prefer updating things myself, that way I KNOW I'm up to date.

In a year's time, these apps have removed alot of junk and have kept my home PC humming nicely. I use Verizon DSL, and cannot complain.

MY 2 CENTS - Find reviews of products from several legit, reliable sources before installing any demo or shareware. Ad-aware and Spybot are routinely mentioned in MAJOR PC rags as quality programs that do the job well (how can anyone complain, they are free). Also, call the company befor you buy anything and ask some hard questions.
