Statistics
Call me a nerd, whatever it doesn't really matter to me, but I was wondering if there's anyone out there who could help.
I'm a senior in high school, and decided i wanted to teach myself Statistics so that i could take the AP Statistics exam on May 6th, 2008. I want to do this, because my school doesn't offer it, and I need one more AP class to get a 4 on, so that i can be recognized as a national AP Scholar (achieved a 4 or 5 on at least 8 different AP courses). If someone could lead me in the proper direction for some materials of which to teach myself, it would be appreciated. Any information for that matter would be appreciated. |

Re: Statistics
There are lots of places to get professional tutoring. Sylvan is the first one that comes to my mind.

Re: Statistics
If I was you, I would find a local high school that does teach it, and approach their math department. They should be able to quite easily give you a detailed syllabus and a set of past papers. That way you can ensure that you are learning what you need to. They may also suggest some good text books.
If you have a good relationship with the math department in your own school, then it is worth a chat with them to see if they would be better approaching another school on your behalf (and that way you may also find a friendly tutor that is able to give you a hand from time to time). |

Re: Statistics
Once you've had a look at Moroney a good text book to start with is Statistical Methods in Biology by N.T.J. Bailey. Somewhat more advanced is Statistical Methods by George W. Snedecor. Both of these have a biological leaning but they teach the basics of statistics.
