Speeding Ticket Taser

A man was tased and arrested on a Utah highway after being stopped by an officer and refusing to sign a speeding ticket because he did not understand what offence he had committed or why he had been pulled over.
UHP (Utah Highway Patrol) tasers man in front of pregnant wife and baby over an alleged speeding ticket. Outraged? Call the Vernal, Utah UHP Office and let them know!

Re: Speeding Ticket Taser

That's what happens when you don't follow instructions. Maybe it's a cultural thing, but I've been made aware of the fact that a cop will go bat****s on you if you don't follow directions since elementary school.

The man was walking back to his car after the cop told him to stay put. Because the cop was trained to assume you have a loaded weapon in your glove box, when you do not obey his second command to halt his next protocol is to stop you by force. If he did not have a taser he would have still forcefully stopped the man from returning to his truck either by slamming him against his car or tackling him.

The real crime here is that you can be ticketed for trying to get the hell out of Utah as fast as you friggen can.

Re: Speeding Ticket Taser

There is one thing that i like in mass. , i got like 3 or 4 tickets in the last 10 years of driving and i drive a lot , but i was never asked at anytime to sign anything , the cop always explain me my rights and how i can appeal it, in a very professional way .
Why does Utah make you sign the citation , i would hesitate to sign something that will come bite me later at the court in case i wanna fight the ticket .

Re: Speeding Ticket Taser

I don't know about Mass but in most states, the offender signs the ticket not as an admission of quilt but simply agreeing that you received a copy of the citation and understand that you can appear in court on the specified date or make arangements with the court for a hearing, or simply pay the citation if you admit to the charges. In Tenn and Al you can be arrested for faling to sign the citation. Of couse you will then be arrested and upon being bailed out you will sign either the short form tickit or a longer form at the jail or they will not let you out. It's plain and simple but people want to argue and confront an officer on the side of the road. this is not the place for a confrontation, thus your day in court to civilly contest the stated charges.

The driver and not offender yet , until proven guilty inside a Court of Law.

And yes , we do chose what option we like to do either pay ticket or appeal it by signing that paper , BUT not in front of the officer WHO just pulled you over , but you have a time frame of 21 days to sign it and mail it .
I usually bring the citation home , there s no tazing there .

Re: Speeding Ticket Taser

Tasered man feels sorry for cop
A MAN who posted a video on YouTube of a Utah trooper Tasering him for refusing to sign a speeding ticket has asked people to stop making online threats against the officer.
The UHP is still investigating the Tasering incident.

I too have voiced my concern about that cop. He is unstable.

Re: Speeding Ticket Taser

When I was pulled over in a traffic stop first thing the officer said was "you were doing a 43 KM in a 30 KM zone can I please see your licease and registration" I complied because I was told what I was being charged with and understood what was going on.

Had that officer said "can I see your licease and registration" I would of said "Why am I being pulled over?" if he would of answered me i'd of given him the info. Otherwise i'd of done the same as this individual. I'm sorry but the duty of a citizen in my eyes is to keep everything in check, including the ploice.

Sometimes ploice abuse their powers, sometimes they don't who know it depends. However in this instance I believe they need to drop the charge aganist the officer, apolgize and then make it very cleary to ever officer when during a speed ticket first things that should come out of your mouth is how fast they were going and what the speed limit was.

Should they contest that merely state if they disagree with it they can take it up in court. However they should know what they are being charged with from the get go.

I can tell you honsetly that I had a conformation with an officer and I was honsetly confused until he explained what was going on. Walking home one night at 11:30 and it was a downtown area and a ploice officer stopped me, and asked if I had any ID on me. I asked what for he was like you know what for now let me see your ID. I said I had no idea why he needed it, what for. he then said he wanted to see my ID to get my age to see if I was allowed out at that time. The curfew for all poeple 15 and under in my town was 10 PM is alone, for 16 and older it was midnight. I then gave him my ID, however I wasn't going give him anything until I was told why. For all I know he could be a imposter just wanting to steal my ID and run off with it.

Re: Speeding Ticket Taser

The first time I received a ticket I felt as thought I was being treated a little unfairly. I was driving home from the Texas/Mexico border with a friend of mine and had to drive through a small city that lies South of San Antonio. While going through there I was flanked by two 18-wheelers. I couldn't see any speed limit signs so I cruised at the same speed as the trucks. Next thing I know there is a siren wailing and flashing lights in my rear view. The cop explained to me that I was doing 60Mph in a 45Mph zone. Knowing there was no point in arguing and wanting to get my overheating car home I reisgned to signing the bloody ticket and finished my drive.

$200 for not using my X-Ray vision.

You're not one of those people, Donald, who drives down the motorway (70mph) at 45mph and gets overtaken by (in the way of) all the trucks?

I dislike these slow drivers , they put peoples life in danger who try to overtake them.
