Most of us are dead, or buried anyway
I came across this whilst looking for something else and thought it was funny, so thought I'd share it with you.

SO! Why does a Scotsman, writing in a Scottish paper in Scotland, referring to a Scottish saying as "Scotch"? Is it only us Sassenachs know full well that Scotch is a venerable drink? Exit saying: “<twibat> the bottle is empty again. Androo, hop down and get another bottle of Scottish!”

Re: Most of us are dead, or buried anyway
The use of Scotch, Scottish and Scots is actually quite complicated. Robbie Burns used Scotch quite extensively and to quote A.J. Aitken, "for working class Scots the common form has long been Scotch....and the native form Scots is sometimes regarded as an Anglicized affectation." Scotch is now generally used mainly in a few collocations: Scotch broth, Scotch egg, Scotch mist, Scotch tweed, Scotch terrier and Scotch whisky.
