Now the Airbus A380 has finally entered active service, are big planes the future?

Once upon a time fast planes were dubbed the future. Yet Concord never made it into mass service.

Looks like it. It's all down to passenger miles per unit of carbon and big planes are more efficient. We could even go back to airships.
