Re: 1GB now and 1GB 20 years ago !

I've got one of those microSD cards... Very handy for storing stuff on a phone, but much to small for anything else. I'm amazed at how small they actually are. Thin as a credit card and about 1/2 inch long.

MicroSD cards go up to 8GB now, I believe. If not, I know it goes at least to 4.

There are gigabytes, terrabytes, and several others. The biggest I've heard about is the Yottabyte - so called, evidently because it holds a "Yotta" data. Yes, I actually heard this from someone who works at the supercomputing center in Pittsburgh - out where google lives.

Re: 1GB now and 1GB 20 years ago !

The convo of my life that truly showed how fast computers have advanced is one I had with a co-worker when I was a intern as a PC shop.

He said that in the 1990s he wanted to install some programs and needed about 10 MB of space more. So he said he had a lot decision wheather to buy the 350 MB HDD or the 500 MB HDD. And I thought to myself, WOW thats only 150 MBs, thats nothing 150 MBs to me is puff next. Back then though it was like 500 GIGs or something.

A nice little chart about storage drives and price per unit of storage.
