Do You Know The Answer?

Do You Know The Answer To This Riddle?

As I was going to St Ives,
I met a man with seven wives,
Each wife had seven sacks;
Each sack had seven cats;
Each cat had seven kittens.
Kits, cats, sacks, and wives,
How many were going to St Ives?

If you were running a race, and you passed the person in 2nd place, what place would you be in now?

There's a logic problem with this riddle: the (false) presumption that the poor guy with seven wives and all that baggage was going in the opposite direction. I know if I was toting all that I'd be moving pretty slowly. (Actually, if I had 7 wives I'd be haul'n <TWIBAT> off in another direction but that's not really the point is it?? )

So it entirely possible that the single guy was passing the group in which case there were 345 going to St. Ives.

Re: Do You Know The Answer?

7 wives * 7 sacks * 7 cats * 7 kittens + 2 addntl people = 2401+2=2403 people/cats/sacks/kittens

(you missed by a power of 7)
