Re: What Do You Think Is The Best Firewall?
Windows Firewall stops more outbound traffic than no firewall! ! !
A while back, I decided to make a decison on firewalls . . I looked back on five years of using first Black Ice, and later, Zone Alarm to recall how many instances where an application tried to use the internet that it was not legit, and I could not think of a single one. . thus I chose to use the SP2 firewall. I like that it uses very little resources . . that it is on from the time that windows loads ( only important with a "always on" broadband connection). If your experience is that you often have to deny a program access to the internet, then I would suggest you use Zone Alarm . . if not, then the SP2 firewall is likely all you need. It really depends on your surfing habits

Re: What Do You Think Is The Best Firewall?
Hey,
I just do normal browsing and chatting online and doing my website so at the moment im using comodo recommended by Go The Power. Other wise i was using PC Tools Firewall Plus and before that Sygate Personal Firewall Pro. But as Sygate is taken over by Symantec there are no more updates. So that when Then it was PC Tools Firewall Plus, which if free to download (Full version) but i also needed a serial to get the premium updates (if you like). So now on one computer im using Comodo but im not sure how good it is as its 100% free according to the website and no restictions to updates. So ill looking really. But Chris seriously you need a firewall man. (If you find anyone on the TSF staff or not that having no firewall in someway is good i will give you £100 SERIOUSLY) Ooh and they must be telling the truth lol .

Re: What Do You Think Is The Best Firewall?
Sygate for me...superb all-round protection. It doesn't bother me in the slightest that updates are no longer available as I only use it to monitor certain applications and filter specific rules. However, it is a very stable, secure firewall. As for the rest....I have my trusty hardware firewall :)

Re: What Do You Think Is The Best Firewall?
I don't use a firewall program and disabled it on my router. The best firewall is disconnection.

Re: What Do You Think Is The Best Firewall?
See i cannot argue that this thread is for software as the title is "What do you think is the best firewall?"
![]() But having a router firewall on check its incoming and outgoing but not when you download something. Our firewall in on max on the router and we still have firewalls, or if any suspisious files that you are downloading or that someone is sending you. |
