MP3-eating trojan

A newly-uncovered worm called W32.Deletemusic does exactly what its name implies—it goes through a PC and deletes all MP3 files in sight. And that's it. Simultaneously low-threat and highly annoying, the worm makes its way from computer to computer by spreading itself onto all attached drives of a given PC, including flash drives and removable media. If that media is then removed and inserted into another computer, it continues its music-eating rampage on the new host.

Re: MP3-eating trojan

Is there a way i can get my sons computer infected. Then he wouldn't keep driving me mad with his music.

His latest favourite is DJ SHREK

Sounds like Pinky and Perky to me.

Re: MP3-eating trojan

You are lucky at the minute.

I started out by listening to that type of music, then it progressed onto the more MC'ing type stuff. A few examples: h
ttp://c-carse.co.uk/03%20Track%203.wma
also this one:
http://c-carse.co.uk/04%20Track%204.wma

After a years stint of that, It progressed more onto the oldskool (90's) type stuff. Right now its the type of music above aswell as the oldskool.

*Music above may contain a small amount of swearing*

I think i'll have to confiscate his computer and buy him a guitar, if that's what it could lead to.

Re: MP3-eating trojan

You know its true because you can just put the music back on if you have the cd, after you cleaned the virus.

heh..finally proof that this thing exists...its been around for a while....the next thing I want is proof of just who created it (I'd love to see the RIAA or its paid henchmen put behind bars!)

I'd rather have my windows XP crash and burn, then lose my 30 gigs of music. Would take me forever to get it all back the way it is now.

Re: MP3-eating trojan

Thankfully I have all mine on my iPod, which can be reverse-synched with a PC quite easily. That and only roughly 25% of my music is in mp3 format - about 1,800 songs.

Re: MP3-eating trojan

I'd die because a few of my concerts from the Live Music Archive and one from etree are in mp3 and it would take me forever to redownload them. Especially the one from etree being that I had to download it using BitTorrent (totally legal) because there was only like 3 seeders and it was a 1+ gig concert...

You can just have your store repaired after I vandalize it too, doesn't mean that vandalism is legal.
