Ahmad Reza Radan told Iran's Farhang-e Ashti newspaper that police would be enforcing the crackdown with renewed vigour in Mordad - the Iranian month starting on 23 July.
"First, those who breach the dress code will be warned by the police.

"But if they continue their ignorance... they will be sent to courts," Mr Radan said.

He also added that men's hairstyles must be in accordance with Islamic religious values.

All these who frown upon news like this, please remember I've posted multiple times that we tend to forget our own history of social evolution; Iran is simply at a different, earlier stage of its own social evolution. Just two days ago there was a documentary on the Greek TV regarding the enforcement of law 4000/58 in Greece - the so-called "anti-Teddyboyism law". It started at 1958 and went on until 1981; long hair was enough of a reason to be dragged to the police station, being entirely haircut to the scalp skin, and then pilloried around the streets, being ridiculed and derided by the public:

So, please, do yourselves and ourselves a favour and adopt a wider view on things, enriched with historical memories of your own society's past evolution, abandoning the selective caustic critique of everything alien.

I think that's a bit harsh Zaz. The Middle East was quite advanced when the Western World was still quite savage, but we've learnt the error of our ways. They seem stuck in a time warp.

Well, this can be easily explained by the time gap between Christianity and Islam. The fact is, that their religion is 621/622 years younger, than ours. The appearance of Islam dates back to the day when Mohammad escaped from Mecca to Medina under the fear of death.
Just think what Christians were doing 621 years ago, and Islam will turn out to be a 'mild' religion!
