Cardboard.....mmmmmm...Yummy

Report: Cardboard main ingredient in steamed buns sold as Beijing street food
BEIJING: Chopped cardboard, softened in an industrial chemical and made tasty with pork flavoring, is a main ingredient in batches of steamed buns sold in a Beijing neighborhood, state television said.

Isn't paper made of vegetable fiber? If one makes it purely mechanically (i.e. no chemicals), why not it be edible?

You all ASSUME that I'm even remotely interested in vegetable fiber... The only way I get vegetable fiber in my gastric system is if the animal had some last supper before getting butchered.

One thing for sure , they have a big problem with sanitation and food control , they are trying to clean up this whole mess , they even killed a couple high ranking officials for this failure .

Re: Cardboard.....mmmmmm...Yummy

Fake fake buns maybe not fake after all?

Quote:
Danwei reports the latest in nattering nabobs of netizen dissent:

What is not being reported in the press is that many people in Beijing believe that the news about the cardboard buns story being fake is itself fake (e.g. see these posts by Chinese journalists Ping Ke and Milk Pig). The way the authorities have gone about stopping the story is exactly the same way they clamp down on real news stories that they don't want circulating.
It makes sense to us that, after decades of clamping down on real stories that they wished were fake, authorities would use similar tactics in the suppression of an actual fake story.

Zazula

When the information is embarassing , they try to make it as fake , old school tactics communists ,
