Re: What's your Vista Score?
That makes absolutely no sense...first off...it would be 2.2...and 5.9 is the highest possible...Someone enjoyed Photoshop

Re: What's your Vista Score?
Hi, no not photoshop straight from Vista's registry I can make it 12 if you really want to show off. The point... this is a kids toy and we should not take it too seriously (a bit like Vista actually).

Re: What's your Vista Score?
Ye lets hope that Windows 7 turns out to be the next XP...vista kinda turned into a ME in comparison. From the playing around i've done in the 7 Beta, it looks promising...You can hardly tell the diff re: looks initially but by playin a bit, you start to appreciate it...most surprising is the fact that it has less compatibility issues that Vista has. Kinda sad that Vista flopped, but maybe 7 can bring back a bit of confidence.

Re: What's your Vista Score?
Jtsou: if u had to look at 7, you would have to look twice to realise its not vista (even the install process is the same style). But once u start playing with the new toys...media player 12, ie8, etc, then u start realising the difference.
Obviously getting drivers is a bit of an issue, but i got some versions of my vista drivers working per se. The only thing really made for it is anti-virus (makes you wonder whether Microsoft is actually trying to make their OS's safer, but thats a whole other topic) I also managed to get a few games running. I'm hoping it isnt just piggybacking on my current windows (I'm running a Virtual PC for 7). I doubt it though, but it does piggyback on my wireless internet connection plugged into the USB (as far as i understand Virtual PC's emulate the machines hardware, so thats normal.) But to the point, besides the "normal" beta bugs which are expected, it runs like we all expected Vista should. In their emails, they have said there are some major code differences compared to Vista, so while it looks the same it really isn't. SO yeah suppose it is more "modern" |

Re: What's your Vista Score?
i want to add to that, that it does a much better job in recognizing it's hardware. i installed on dofferent laptops and desktops and it installed much better optimized on laptops because it can recognize the hardware.
it even recognizes touch panel, etc. some nifty features have been added. one i like is that you can drag a window to your desktop edge to maximize it and drag it off to run it in a window again. avira makes a pretty good virus scanner that runs well in win7 and is free. i am not to happy about the sidebar being gone. the control panel actually almost holds all of your configuration applets. and finally windows defrag comes with it's own scheduler, no more schedule task required.

Re: What's your Vista Score?
Try it as a virtual PC first to check your hardware compatibility. I see BOT had no probs, but some of my hardware struggled a bit, but i did get it working...was quite proud of myself.
My next step is to try replace my XP; once i'm sure out the bugs won't cripple my PC. Thats why i did a Virtual PC 2007 test run. Download it here if u wanna test compatibility issues before running it properly |
